milk the cow.
Rating: 2While The Digital Photography Book Volume I, was a pleasant read with some useful tips for beginners, Volume II is a poor attempt to stretch the success with too much emphasis on wedding photography. let's not forget that these Books are meant for beginners, yet most digital SLR users are probably not interested in investing in a studio for portraits. some of the chapters rehash previous chapters from Volume I. In a nutshell, give volume I a try if you are fairy new to digital SLR's and want a quick preview of what's to come. Alternatively give some of the British photo mags like Digital Photography and Photo Plus a try and save you dough on Volume II

Disappointing.
Rating: 2I got a DSLR for Christmas and was looking for a book to explain how to get the best features using the manual controls. This book tells me which side of the face is the best for a portrait shot. Not what I need.

Highly Recommended.
Rating: 4Parts 1 & 2 of this series are a must for beginners or enthusiasts wanting to know how to take better pictures. Very informative and entertaining at the same time.

A good "How To" book..
Rating: 5Scott Kelby shares many tips and tricks that separate the home photographer from the magazine photographer. I found the section on flash photography to be especially beneficial. I also appreciate the author's recognition that while you can spend a lot of money on gear and gadgets, there is a lot you can do with gadgets and accessories that cost less than $20! As a seasoned SLR user I opted to skip vol. 1 and go to vol 2 directly. Since I found vol. 2 to be so beneficial, I have now ordered vol.1 to see what other handy tips I can pick-up. This book is well written: not dummied down to be dull, but not too technical to be intimidating.

I LOVE Scott Kelby's books!!.
Rating: 5I always look for Scott Kelby when looking for photography Books BEFORE I look anywhere else. He has easy step by step instructions for whatever you want to do. I also find myself recommending Mr. Kelby's Books to people getting started in the editing field. You can't go wrong with Scott Kelby's books. Now if he would just come out with one for the newest Elements 7!!
