Chapter395-Power Means No Need to Bow

Upon hearing John's words, the High Priest's expression began to change subtly.

After all, what John said was indeed true: their runes could enhance their resistance against magical beasts, but they had never been able to control such creatures.

This implied that John possessed some power unknown to them.

If such a person were a friend, there would likely be no danger at all.

But as an enemy, the story would be quite different.

"How do you prove that you are a messenger of the gods?" the High Priest asked again.

John simply smiled lightly, his expression nonchalant.

"Isn't the fact that I possess powers beyond your control proof enough?" he replied.

The High Priest remained silent, yet his mind was already racing with thoughts, as John's power was indeed beyond anything they had anticipated.

Fire and Wind had just returned with him, and now, seeing John standing outside the door, they felt increasingly anxious.

What was going on?

Why wouldn't the High Priest let this man in?

Was he not a messenger of the gods?

Both were visibly confused as they looked toward the High Priest, who then turned and waved to the chieftain beside him.

The chieftain immediately understood and nodded to someone nearby, then opened the surrounding fence.

"If he is indeed a messenger of the gods, then naturally we must treat him well," the chieftain declared.

"Messengers of the gods usually bear divine mandates. May I ask, sir, what decree do you bring with you now?"

The people around John looked at him with curiosity, yet at that moment, there was not a trace of reverence in their eyes.

John knew that if he couldn't win them over immediately, he would only grow more anxious as time passed.

Without a word, John silently cast another Great Illumination Spell.

Everyone watched as the orb of light grew larger, slowly expanding in the air, and then exploded into countless sparks that fell gently upon their heads.

As the power of these tiny stars touched them, they keenly felt something burgeoning rapidly within their bodies.

Fire and Wind felt it most distinctly; they had been exhausted from their journey, but now, as the light touched them, they felt an extraordinary coolness.

Even their physical stamina seemed to recover at an accelerated pace.

Everyone was stunned.

John distinctly felt a faint aura of life emanating from these green fruits.

He remained silent, sitting quietly as he awaited the High Priest to speak.

The High Priest, with a radiant smile, gestured towards the fruits as if to say John could help himself.

Without hesitation, John picked up one of the green fruits and examined it.

[Name: Green Fruit]

[Grade: Precious]

[Effect: Slowly restores lost mind power.]

[Description: A common fruit on the continent that possesses the ability to slowly restore mind power. It can also be found in other places.]

John took a bite and indeed felt his mind power gradually restoring.

Though the process was slow, it was still faster than recovering on his own.

If these fruits were consumed regularly as ordinary fruits, did it mean that the locals generally had higher mind power than those from outside?

"It seems that Divine Envoy truly enjoys the Green Fruit," the High Priest spoke up, his voice dry.

The chieftain beside him remained silent, simply watching quietly.

John spoke with a smile.

"Everyone has their own preferences, doesn't the High Priest as well?"

His face, previously drawn into a smile, seemed dry as orange peel, gaunt and somewhat frightening at first glance.

"Of course, people can have their own likes, but as a child of the gods, one shouldn't forsake their reason for these things."

John gave the High Priest a puzzled look, sensing perhaps the High Priest harbored some other thoughts.

Yet, he wasn't concerned about that now; his priority was to find his two teammates in this place.

And he didn't even know who these two teammates were, or where the other two might have gone.

Their group of five had been scattered far too widely.

Just then, John noticed the small blue dots on the map moving closer towards his direction.

He didn't speak, simply taking another bite of the fruit, and then saw someone enter from outside.

It was a local child.

His skin was very dark, and he looked no different from other native children in appearance.
