Legend of Dragon Son-in-law

Chapter 2548: Sneak Attack

Chapter 2548: Sneak Attack

Solitude can perhaps be endured, but staring at the unchanging surroundings, the repetitious buildings, the silent streets, and the endless road.Julius Reed’s mood was somewhat stirred.

If it were an ordinary person in such an environment, they might go mad within a day.

No sound, no people, only oneself.

Being in such an environment is incredibly anxiety-inducing!

The brain releases hormones that can easily drive a person insane.

The scariest part is, no one knows how long such an environment will last.

"Each day feels like a year," perfectly describes this scenario.

Time in this situation seems to flow very slowly.

Julius Reed walked into a pastry shop, which was still empty.

He picked up a pastry from the counter and threw it into his mouth, chewing.

But the pastry had no taste whatsoever.

It was as tasteless as wax.

Julius Reed picked up another pastry and tasted it.

Again, no taste at all.

The pastry shop was very tidy, it looked like someone had just eaten there.

On the table, there were quite a few half-eaten pastries left.

This indicated that someone had once been in the room.

These traces of previous presence continuously stimulated the nerves of those within.

If no one had been here from the beginning, it might have been easier to bear.

But these traces constantly remind those entering such an environment that people had been here before, but now they’ve disappeared.

The sense of loneliness gradually grows stronger.

Leaving the pastry shop, Julius Reed entered a milk tea shop.

Inside, it was still empty and desolate.

On the table, there were several cups of drunk milk tea, including one with a straw covered in lipstick marks.

Such details provoke endless thoughts.

Once you start imagining who might have sat here drinking milk tea, who had occupied this seat, the loneliness only becomes heavier.

Julius Reed felt calm but still somewhat uneasy.

If it were an ordinary Martial Artist standing here, they might have already had a mental breakdown, losing control and screaming furiously to vent.

A clock still hung on the wall of the milk tea shop.

Time silently ticked away, but it made no sound.

This was something Julius Reed noticed while drinking his milk tea.

The environment was entirely silent.

Whether eating, drinking, or even walking, there was no sound at all.

Silence, solitude.

Picking up a freshly made milk tea from the counter that hadn’t been delivered yet, Julius Reed took a sip.

It was as bland as water.

Still that tasteless water.

Soon, night began to fall.

The seemingly normal daylight became incredibly slow as darkness approached.

The clock moved just a second every minute.

Outside, there was no moon, only streetlights.

The milk tea shop where Julius Reed was also gradually lit up.

The desolate and cold milk tea shop had only himself.

Outside was an emptier than empty street.

Then, it began to rain outside.

The rain poured down increasingly heavier, even accompanied by lightning, yet not even a sound was heard, completely silent.

This environment makes one irresistibly sleepy.

But here, it’s clearly a dreamscape!

Falling asleep within a dream, could only be a dream within a dream!

It’s an incredibly terrifying thing.

If one stays within the dream within a dream, if they cannot wake up, they become a vegetable.

All consciousness will be entirely lost.

Yet as the lightning flashed, outside the storm raged, the lights of the milk tea shop flickered constantly, the drowsy feeling grew stronger.

Despite Julius Reed’s efforts to remain awake, the feeling was entirely uncontrollable!

In the dreamscape, spiritual power becomes exceedingly fragile!

Furthermore, sleep is supposed to be a part of this illusion.

Upon entering the illusion, naturally there is no distinction between the strength and weakness of spiritual power.

Perhaps this is the terrifying aspect of the Double Dragon Jade Pendant.

Even the experienced and calculating Silvio Reed fell for it.

Its power is evidently quite frightening.

Reluctantly, Julius Reed stopped resisting and rejecting this feeling, letting things unfold naturally, intending to channel his energy into the following scenes.

Who knows how much time passed.

Julius Reed groggily awoke.

"Didn’t enter the illusion? Just woke up like this?"

He opened the Eye of God, observing the surrounding environment.

It was still desolation left by a grand battle.

Not far away, a figure gradually approached.

Julius Reed struggled to stand up, feeling as though his entire body was collapsing.

After consecutive battles, if not for the replenishment of spiritual power by the Divine Blood, he would have already been exhausted.

"Nelson?"

The Eye of God clearly saw the approaching person, Nelson.

Nelson rode a white horse, holding a precious sword, rushing over swiftly.

Seeing a familiar face can indeed elevate one’s spirit somewhat.

Julius Reed stood in place, quietly waiting, while recalling his experiences within the Double Dragon Jade Pendant.

Though the process was painful, for him, it was rather relaxing.

But according to Julius Reed’s previous understanding, the Double Dragon Jade Pendant presents a thousand faces to a thousand people.

Everyone who enters it encounters entirely different scenarios.

Adapting to strength when meeting strength, adapting to weakness when meeting weakness, is one of the features of the Double Dragon Jade Pendant.

In other words, the Double Dragon Jade Pendant exploits the entrants to oppose the entrants.

Previously, during the first entry, each of the three had substantial gains.

Now it’s the second time.

Could it be that Silvio Reed had already entered twice and would still have the documented reaction?

In previous dialogues, Silvio Reed once proposed exchanging secrets about the Double Dragon Jade Pendant.

He even mentioned that the Double Dragon Jade Pendant could resurrect the South Sea Deity.

Now it seems rather unbelievable.

Nelson rode the white horse closer and closer until she stopped the horse right in front of Julius Reed.

"Are you alright?"

She threw herself into Julius Reed’s arms, eyes full of tears as she asked.

"I’m fine, not dying."

Julius Reed extended his hand, embracing Nelson’s waist, inquiring, "How did you know I’d be here?"

"I received a message and rushed over immediately. Fortunately, you’re alright. Don’t worry about over there, with the presence of Meng De Zhenjun, there won’t be any disturbances." Nelson looked up, reaching out to touch Julius Reed’s face, "Silvio Reed is very dangerous, you must be careful."

"We’ve already crossed paths, and he was indeed scarier than I anticipated. But now, isn’t everything over? Even if he wants to act, he must wait a bit."

Julius Reed embraced Nelson with affection, reassuringly saying, "Just earlier, I fought one against two, and drove them all off."

"Mm. Then shall we... go back."

Nelson smiled, but just as she moved away, she drew out a sword!

At lightning speed, she stabbed it into Julius Reed’s body!

Then, she stepped back two paces, her eyes full of resentment.

"Julius Reed, why didn’t you agree to Silvio Reed, why didn’t you save my master? He didn’t make any excessive demands, and haven’t you also failed to trap him?"

Nelson was in despair, heartbroken, with only struggle left in her eyes.

"One is the person I love, the other loves me. Julius Reed, you know how much I care about my master, why!"

She shouted in pain.
