Chapter 555:They Are Here
Chapter 555:They Are Here
BANG!
The sound of heavy footsteps echoed loudly across the dense snow-covered land, and the ground trembled slightly as a massive lineup of Beastmen emerged from the white horizon while their figures moved like a dark wave cutting through the snow.
"GRRR!"
"So that's the land of that savage human," one of them growled, and his eyes burned with hostility while his claws tightened around his weapon.
Behind them, a battalion of Orcs followed closely, and their massive frames pushed forward while their weapons rested heavily on their shoulders and their breaths came out like steam in the cold air.
"Frostvale belongs to Blanks… GRR!" one of the Orcs snarled while baring his teeth.
"You killed our Divine Knight, and now we will kill all your children, you bastard!" another roared angrily, and his voice carried across the field.
Their voices were filled with hatred and rage, and it was clear that this was not just a planned march but a revenge-driven assault.
The allied army was not supposed to pass through this route, because their original path led through the central province that would guide them deeper into Arcadia, but they chose to march here instead, and the reason behind that decision was simple.
The lord of this land had killed one of their Divine Knights, and such a blood grudge could not be ignored or delayed, so it had to be repaid no matter the cost.
"GOOOOOOO!" the Orc leader roared as he slammed his greatsword into the ground, and the impact sent a dull shock through the snow-covered land.
Following his command, the Beastmen roared together, and their voices rose like thunder while the entire army surged forward like a collapsing wave.
Snow was crushed under their feet, and the ground shook as thousands of soldiers charged toward Frostvale while their momentum carried a heavy killing intent.
The massive force moved forward in preparation for siege warfare, and their advance looked unstoppable at first.
But as they approached the fortress, everything changed.
The walls of Frostvale stood tall and firm, and unlike before, the city had been reinforced heavily with layered defenses and prepared positions.
This was no longer the same Frostvale from the time of the Demon invasion, and now it stood ready for war.
The moment the enemy entered range, the response came instantly.
The cannons lit up.
BOOOOOOM!
A thunderous sound erupted as massive cannons fired one after another, and blazing shells tore through the air while leaving trails behind before crashing into the advancing army.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Explosions spread across the battlefield, and Beastmen and Orcs were thrown into the air while the ground cracked beneath them and snow turned into mud and blood.
At the same time, magical artillery activated, and glowing formations appeared along the walls while releasing concentrated beams of energy that shot forward in straight lines.
WHOOSH!
The beams cut through the charging lines, and several soldiers were torn apart instantly while screams echoed around.
"Keep pushing!" an Orc shouted, and he raised his weapon while forcing his way forward through the chaos and stepping over fallen bodies.
The army did not stop, and they kept advancing despite the heavy losses while their rage pushed them forward.
Seeing this, the Orc shaman stepped forward, and his staff rose into the air while his eyes glowed faintly and dark clouds began to gather above the battlefield.
Lightning formed quickly, and the air turned heavy.
CRACK!
A massive bolt of lightning struck down toward the fortress with terrifying force, and its descent split the sky.
BOOOOOM!
But just before it could hit, a barrier appeared, and a transparent shield spread across the walls while the lightning slammed into it and dispersed into countless sparks.
The fortress held.
The battle continued as both sides clashed fiercely, and the sound of explosions, roars, and screams filled the air while neither side backed down.
Time passed under constant pressure.
Then suddenly, a sharp screeching sound echoed across the sky, and it cut through the noise of battle.
SWISHH!
BOOM! BOOM!
Something struck from above, and explosions erupted within the army once again while soldiers were caught off guard.
"The hell is this?!" one of the Beastmen shouted as he looked up while shielding his face.
"What's going on?!" another screamed while stumbling back.
"Fuck! Watch out!" someone yelled as another blast landed nearby and threw bodies aside.
Panic spread quickly, and attacks rained down continuously while soldiers were hit one after another and their formation began to break again.
"AAARGH!"
"My leg! My leg is gone!"
"Where is this coming from?!"
They looked up together, and what they saw shocked them deeply.
High above the battlefield, a large number of Wyvern riders circled in the sky, and their shadows moved across the ground while archers and mages rode on their backs and attacked without pause.
Arrows and spells rained down continuously.
WHOOSH! WHOOSH!
Each shot struck with precision, and explosions followed one after another while fire and light spread across the battlefield and created more chaos.
"They are attacking from the sky!"
"Shoot them down!"
But it was not easy, because the Wyverns moved quickly and changed direction constantly while staying out of reach and maintaining pressure from above.
"Damn it! We are getting surrounded!"
"Fall back… no, keep moving!"
The battlefield turned chaotic again, and the army that had charged forward with confidence was now being hit from both the front and above while their advance slowed.
Seeing the flying Wyvern legion tearing through the forces below, the expressions of the commanders of the allied army froze, and for a brief moment even their confidence wavered as they watched their soldiers fall before even reaching the walls.
"Damn… we are getting annihilated even before we reach the gate," one of them muttered while clenching his fist.
"Bullshit…" another cursed under his breath, and frustration filled his voice.
A third one stepped forward and spoke with a cold tone, "Let's stop this farce."
He raised his hand slightly and gave the order.
"Deploy them."
One of the officers hesitated for a moment.
"But…"
"Fuck your 'but' and go," the commander snapped sharply, and his eyes turned cold.
In war, there was usually a rule that lower ranks fought lower ranks, because if higher realm warriors started slaughtering weaker ones without restraint, it would create chaos and imbalance, but at this moment, they had no choice.
The defensive setup of Frostvale had exceeded their expectations, and the magical barriers and heavy equipment were holding them back too effectively.
"Go!" the order came again.
SWISHHH!
Several streaks of light shot upward into the sky, and multiple figures rushed forward at incredible speed.
They were Emperor Knight realm experts, and they moved to cut down the Wyvern riders and break their aerial advantage.
But before they could reach their targets a sharp sword streak cut across the sky.
SHIIIING!
One of the Beastmen was cut down instantly, and his body fell before he even understood what happened.
"Did you really think we are unprepared?" a voice echoed.
A terrifying sword aura surged outward, and it blasted away the snow while stirring the sky itself.
Above the battlefield, a man with long hair descended down with a loud thud, and the ground shook slightly as he landed.
The soldiers of Frostvale looked at him, and their eyes lit up instantly.
"ARGHHHH!"
"LORD RAY is here!"
"Damn… it has been so long since I have seen you, Lord…"
