Chapter 89 89: Horreo Has Not Yet Slept

GemmaS came in a rush and left just as quickly. Tristan didn't pay much attention. That's just the kind of person she was—he had experienced it before in his past life.

Running into her was just a small side note, but it did make Tristan think of something. He remembered a lot of the top-tier players from his previous life. Some were known for their exceptional skills, others for their innate talents. A portion of them probably belonged to large guilds, but many more were hidden among the masses, rising through trials and hardships to shine.

Perhaps he could recruit some of them.

Tristan knew very well that a lone wolf had its limits. In the later stages of the game, players would inevitably need to form guilds to support each other. But his growth rate was too fast for normal players to keep up with. However, running into GemmaS gave him an idea.

Normal players might not be of much use, but top-tier players? That could be different.

"If I could gather all the top 100 global players from my past life into a guild, even when the gods descend, we wouldn't be forced into a deadly standoff alone," Tristan thought.

And he remembered many key details that could push the top players even further, allowing them to exceed their previous achievements. If that happened, they could provide more help, and Tristan would go even farther. It would be a win-win situation.

At the very least, when the gods descend, a group of people fighting together for justice would be in a much better position than one person charging in alone.

With this in mind, Tristan had a plan formulating. The future steps seemed to be taking shape in a way that could accomplish two goals with a single stroke.

Listening to the distant sounds of explosions, Tristan smiled to himself as he continued his journey toward Davi City.

It was around three or four in the morning. Davi City was still asleep, but there were still NPC guards stationed at the city gates.

"Stop! Who goes there!" The guards shouted, their tone harsh.

They had heard the explosions outside earlier and were on edge. With more people approaching, they were on high alert. It was already considered polite that they hadn't drawn their weapons yet.

Tristan didn't waste time with words. He simply took out Horreo's token.

The guards' expressions shifted 180 degrees. Their voices softened. "Ah, it's Lord Horreo's friend. Please, come in."

Tristan casually handed over two silver coins. "Thanks for the hard work, guys. Grab a drink."

The guards' faces lit up with wide smiles, clearly grateful.

"Ding! Guard A's affection +10." "Ding! Guard B's affection +10."

And now, here it was—the severed head right in front of him!

Tristan asked curiously, "You've seen Bonecrusher before?"

This was as much as admitting that the head he held belonged to Bonecrusher.

Horreo shook his head. "I haven't seen him, not yet. I just got the news today. I was planning to consult with you about it, but you weren't in the city."

Tristan couldn't help but smile. What a coincidence.

Since Horreo knew about Bonecrusher, things would be easier now. He had to get that quest reward.

Who said you couldn't claim a quest reward without formally accepting the task?

Tristan began describing the battle in the valley in vivid detail, emphasizing how he had turned the tide and defeated the evolved Bonecrusher.

"Wait a moment." Horreo rubbed his temples, his eyes widening in disbelief.

"You're saying Bonecrusher performed a death sacrifice and ascended?" His expression was a mix of amazement and disbelief.

He had expected the outsider to be strong, but not this strong. Bonecrusher's ascension had made him a Dark Gold Grade monster. Even Horreo himself wasn't sure he would be able to defeat him, but this outsider had killed him.

Who exactly was this guy?

It seemed like even Edith didn't have such an impressive record.

Horreo took a deep breath and steadied himself. "Bro, your strength truly impresses me."

Tristan smiled but didn't respond. This was the kind of respect that came from showing power. Now Horreo was calling him "Bro."

But while they were getting friendly, the reward couldn't be forgotten.

Tristan cleared his throat. "You flatter me, Horreo. Protecting the safety of Davi City is everyone's responsibility. I'm sure the generous Lord of the city wouldn't leave a warrior empty-handed."

Horreo understood the hint immediately. "Funny you should mention that. Earlier today, I reported to the city lord about Bonecrusher. The city lord said that anyone who can defeat this beast will receive the richest rewards."
