Chapter 242 Heigh-Ho
Chapter 242 Heigh-Ho
Words have the power to change how people perceive reality and that's precisely what happened after Uriel and Sam settled their differences for good. Once Sam voiced out that he thought of Uriel like a brother, the system somehow recognized him as such.
This was a great deal for Uriel who had never experienced having a family before, the only memories he had of his parents were so distant and fuzzy they were more of an ethereal concept than actual parents.
However, something bothered him. The cyan liquid that dripped into Sam was much similar to the one that covered him after he stabbed himself on the heart and because of the short time he spent with Water warlock he knew that his flux energy was also cyan.
In the end, Uriel decided no to voice any of his concerns about Water warlock to Sam since he didn't know much himself and there was nothing they could do.
The first part of the mining operation was successful and every member of the crew reached the location safely. The next part was much more difficult, they needed to haul the expensive and heavy equipment towards the orichalcum veins and then set up the machinery.
The group climbed down the island where the Air spirit people lived following the same path that Uriel took to reunite with his friends after falling from the heights. Lowering the crates was a challenge, not only because of their weight, but also because they were fragile and needed to be lowered with caution.
Some of the members from the Armstrong family tied some crates to their backs, but the bigger ones had to be lowered using chains and pulleys.
Thankfully, the area was safe and they weren't attacked by cryptids and the only danger they faced was to fall down to their deaths. Sam remained in the same group as the fighters while being careful not to show how close he was with Uriel who was still trying to hide his identity, especially from people he didn't know from before.
After long hours of painstakingly hard work and only after all the equipment was at ground level they were able to take a rest.
Uriel took a nap as he accustomed to do whenever he had a chance, but that didn't bode well with the rest of the mining crew. They all glared at him because of the different treatment he received from Amy, who not only didn't scold him but asked the rest of the members to not wake him up.
But even if they wanted to complain, they couldn't do it because Uriel wasn't in the fighter group and they were currently idle. It just bothered to see someone so calm while they were sweating in fear of activating a trap or being attacked by something.
"Shut up, both of you. Miss, Phlox, I understand you're an engineer, right?"
"That's correct.
We need to deploy the tier 2 batteries before even thinking on setting up the infusors, those things take a long while to charge and if we don't do it properly we risk wasting a full batch of batteries." Although she only found out about the existence of the metal known as orichalcum when Nika informed her, she studied the manual of every single machine and gadget which allowed her to understand the most efficient and safest way to operate the machinery.
"You heard her, start unpacking the batteries." At amy's command, the armstrongs opened the crates and began working, while Uriel and Miss Dragonfang stood idly by.
"You two, get moving!" Phlox said with an imperative voice. Lizzy bristled like a cat and started doing as Phlox asked while Uriel tried to follow her lead.
"What's this thing?"
"It's an infusor, it's purpose is to overload the orichalcum to make it harder."
"Isn't that a bad thing?" Amy, Lizzy, Sam and Uriel asked in unison.
"You clearly don't know a thing about this. The harder a material is, the more brittle it becomes." The leader of the Armstrongs answered.
"Exactly, we need to make it harder so we can break it with those babies!" She made a fist with her hand and then pointed towards a crate. "Because of the presence of cryptids and the strange phenomenons that occur in this place, we're forced to use kinetic machinery."
"Kinetic machinery my ass! Those are just pickaxes!"
