Chapter 302 Cursed artifact

The shadows converged on the book on Uriel's hand and a black liquid dripped from it, casting the shadow of a tall muscular man. Uriel remained still as the shadow took over the fight against Cassandra.

Although Uriel didn't issue a command, it seemed as though the shadow was created for the sole purpose of following his will as it performed flawlessly against the heavenly rank huntress who now was having trouble remaining on her two feet after the earth began trembling.

Something about the shadow's strange ability reminded him of someone, but he couldn't tell who exactly until he saw its fighting style.

It was Shaker's shadow, summoned by the book of the dead from the afterlife.

Uriel couldn't believe his own eyes and he wondered how was it possible, considering he was absolutely certain that he killed Shaker, but then he remembered that while he was inside the dark pit in Hunter's lane he saw Atomic and now he was certain that he was the real one.

Somehow the souls of the dead were able to manifest themselves on the real world. The thought itself was preposterous for a man of science like Uriel, but he couldn't deny the facts.

Shaker's shadow didn't stop it's onslaught until the collar on Cassandra's neck was destroyed.

"What am I doing here?" Cassandra spoke after recovering her senses. She looked at the scenery around her where she noticed the battle traces and the scorch marks left by Mark's trait and she was about to go off at him when she noticed Uriel's presence.

The shadow behind his back kept growing and his face carried a murderous glare that conveyed all the pent up anger he carried him for so long.

Now that Cassandra wasn't under his control anymore, Mark turned to leave but Uriel stopped him on his tracks.

"On your knees, dog!"

For thousands of years it patiently waited knowing it's freedom would spell the end of the world for every creature that thrived under the sun, but not even once in all of the countless days and nights did it ever cross its mind that the same creature that would one day set him free would be more powerful than itself.

When Uriel came to his senses it was already late morning of the next day. He was in the middle of the barrenlands with Luna completely naked sleeping by his right side and Cassandra on the left with her hair disheveled and all of her clothes in shambles.

Waking up with no memory of what happened with two beautiful girls could have been a dream come true for people like Sam, but it wasn't the case for Uriel. It was as though he woke up the day after a wild night of partying, without memories and all his body aching.

"What happened here!?" He said as he tried to stand up, only to be brought back to the ground by Luna who treated him like a plushie. Without Water warlock's blessing or Dash, she was way stronger than him.

"You don't remember?" Cassandra whispered as she lovingly stroked his cheek. Her soft skin, lively cheeks and glossy eyes that would have enthralled him a few months before, did nothing to appease his heart.

'If Medusa finds out about this...' Not even the memory of the horror level eclipse could have scared him more.

"Uhm... you gave us your juice... uhm, it was... tasty." Luna replied.

"I did no such thing!" Uriel shook both of them off and took his distance, caring not to look at them.

"You actually did," Cassandra chuckled, her demeanor much more feminine and kind than usual. "you said it was water from the fountain of eternal youth."
