Chapter 86 : Blessing of the water warlock
Chapter 86 : Blessing of the water warlock
"What about the trials?" Water warlock asked Uriel.
"You'll have to be more specific." Uriel replied, not understanding what he meant by trials. He overcame many challenges, but none of them felt like fated a trial. It was just a succession of non related life or death situations all hurdled together.
"Let me get this clear. You weren't chosen by all of your kind, you are not the strongest one, you didn't win the ball game at the court, you also didn't choose a priestess... and yet you found the entrance to Xibalbá on your own?"
"Yeah, pretty much... I did have a little help, but then I was betrayed by... nevermind."
Water warlock's eyes started brimming in a cyan light as he stared at Uriel with curiosity.
"Interesting, It seems not everything is lost yet. I think the reason why you were able to enter the mystical realm is just a coincidence, but it's interesting nonetheless."
"What coincidence?" Uriel asked, wondering about what trait did the man in front of him possess.
"It's because you're a virgin! That made the presence of a priestess unnecessary. I just wonder what kind of person stabs himself in the heart with a dagger. It takes a very particular type of person and I'm undecided on whether you're the bravest man I've met, or the dumbest."
"How do you know I did it?"
Water warlock pondered for a few seconds and then continued, ignoring Uriel's question. "All you have to do is go back, fetch the jeweled bracelet and return here. With that, I'll be able to materialize back, find the strongest warrior on my own and give him my blessing."
"About that..." Uriel gulped down a lump of saliva, not knowing how the arrogant man in front of him would react. "I sort of broke it."
"Excuse me, it seems my trip to the mystical realm affected my senses. For a second I thought I heard you say you broke the jeweled bracelet?" Water warlock apologized, then leaned closer to Uriel.
"I... I sort of did."
"If what you're saying is the truth, then I could use you after all." Water warlock resigned himself to resorting on a weakling like Uriel to accomplish his objective.
"I refuse." Uriel said nonchalantly.
"You can't refuse, you came all the way here and..."
"And I got to be yelled at, bullied and almost killed by... well, I don't know what you are." Uriel coldly replied.
"If you're not willing to cooperate I can still kill you." Water warlock said menacingly, but taking care not to exert too much pressure on the weak being in front of him.
"And lose your last resort? Do your worst... dumbass." Although Uriel did his best to keep his tough facade, he still hesitated before insulting the mighty Water warlock.
Managing to insult the mighty Water warlock to his face was no easy feat, instead of offended, he was actually impressed such a weakling could do it.
"Alright, you win!" Water warlock laughed heartily.
"I... win?" Uriel echoed.
"Indeed." Water warlock showed the palms of his hands in surrender. "If you oath to investigate the whereabouts of my people, I will bestow my blessing upon you. It will grant you an immortal body, eternal youth and the power of the one who destroyed the world." Water warlock solemnly declared.
Uriel had no time to ponder about the dangerous words the man in front of him just spoke as he was enveloped in a cyan light and an all powerful feeling erupted within the very core of his soul. At first it felt pleasurable, then addictive and finally, Uriel felt as though he was a water balloon filled with too much water.
"It's just as I thought, you're not even strong enough to carry the full power of my blessing." Water warlock said with a frown as he stopped the process, giving Uriel a much needed respite. "But it's just like you said... I don't have a choice and neither do you." He smirked.
Uriel consciousness faded right after and what happened next remained a mystery to him.
