Chapter 215 : On Set (2)
Chapter 215 : On Set (2)
On Set (2)
The commercial shoot proceeded smoothly.
The marketing manager felt both pleased and surprised by that fact.
'No way, that ill-tempered fellow...'
He looked at the director with disbelief in his eyes.
"Can you do it with pistols in both hands?"
"Hmm, I don't think it'll be particularly difficult."
"Oh! Then..."
"That would be nice too, but let's change the composition a bit, move the camera here..."
"Ah, that's even better!"
The director's face was filled with smiles and his complexion grew brighter. On top of that, he actively exchanged opinions with Lee Gyeongbok.
The marketing manager couldn't help but give a wry chuckle at that sight.
'He's actually discussing things with the model?'
It was a completely different situation compared to before, when demanding orders were forced unilaterally, and not only the models but also staff were overworked.
"Wow, really, whenever Purple comes, things just change, I swear."
"Isn't this how shoots are supposed to be done in the first place?"
The marketing manager flinched at the sudden voice. Park Juho was looking at him with a puzzled expression.
"Ah, yes, yes. It's just that the director has quite a strong will. Even when using top celebrities as models, he never smiles like that... Sheesh! Purple really is something else."
Park Juho let out a soft laugh at those words.
"Yes, I think people who make videos all seem to have something in common."
"Sorry?"
"Our editor reacts exactly like that director."
Park Juho glimpsed Choi Byeonghun's reflection in the director's excited face.
'Technically speaking, Choi Byeonghun is also Purple Channel's video director.'
When the best possible resources are being provided for content creation, it's impossible not to be happy. Both Choi Byeonghun and the commercial director couldn't help but look fondly upon Lee Gyeongbok.
"Uh, manager?"
The conversation between the two was interrupted by Lee Gyeongbok's call. The manager immediately rushed over to him.
"Yes, what is it?"
"Oh, it's nothing major. I discussed something with the director. I was wondering if we could raise the AI level a bit more. The AI's responses seem a bit slow."
"This scene is a core part of the shoot, as you requested, manager. Purple is perfect already, but if the dummy characters he faces are lukewarm, it just won't have the right impact."
The director quickly chimed in as well. The manager nodded repeatedly and turned toward the staff.
The staff member replied with an embarrassed look.
"Uh, actually... It's already set to the highest level right now."
"This is the highest level?"
As Lee Gyeongbok asked, the manager quickly cut in.
"Is there nothing else? Is there only one type of AI?"
"Uh... there is one thing, but..."
The staff member hesitated under the manager's pressing, but as the manager glared at him, he finally explained.
"The only thing left is the data used for Annihilator."
"Annihilator, as in the one from Time Warfare?"
The manager blinked.
The final boss AI, annihilator, that had been used in Gunner Ground event mode. It was an AI made based on Lee Gyeongbok's behavior patterns.
No matter how he thought about it, that wasn't the kind of thing suitable for a commercial.
"That should be fine."
Lee Gyeongbok responded like it was nothing.
The manager and staff gaped at his attitude, but soon hurried to make preparations.
"It's swapped now."
"Alright, let's get ready."
"Great! Standby!"
Unaware of the background, the director eagerly took his place.
"Move the carriage more to the right. Yes, and place the dummy near the window."
While the director was absorbed in fine-tuning objects, Lee Gyeongbok watched quietly before he spoke.
"Um, so this time I'm supposed to hide behind cover, move, and even throw an explosive, right?"
"Yes, that's right."
The director nodded.
It was a core scene intuitively expressing Gunner Ground Showdown gameplay.
"Let's just do it in one go. I think three dummy characters will be enough."
The director's eyes widened.
He'd originally planned to shoot each point as a separate take.
"Are you okay with a long take?"
"Yes. Actually, if we divide it into single shots, it might feel awkward. And I don't think it will be long enough to even call it a 'long take.'"
When Lee Gyeongbok answered with a bright smile, the director's eyes lit up.
"If Purple can handle it, that's best. Right, place one dummy at each window, and another at the center of the second floor balcony."
"Wait, you're using three Annihilators?"
"Is there some technical problem?"
The director asked curiously.
He had no idea just how hard it was to face the Annihilator.
"No, uh... I'll set them up."
The staff was aghast but followed instructions.
Lee Gyeongbok soon moved into place, took position behind the broken carriage, and drew a short breath.
He gave the okay sign to the director, who signaled to begin.
With that, the outlaws started moving.
'Hmm... I guess the impact of future weapons was bigger than I thought.'
Sensing the threat level with his divine energy, Lee Gyeongbok weighed the situation. Even with the Annihilator AI loaded, the outlaws didn't feel all that threatening.
Lightly gripping a pistol in each hand, he closed his eyes. Meanwhile, the outlaws opened fire.
Gunshots rang out, and shards of the carriage flew everywhere.
'This should be enough.'
Lee Gyeongbok recalled the key points the director had outlined. His divine energy spatially visualized the optimal path for this scene.
He followed it.
He moved out from behind the carriage, fired at the window, then dashed to the side and fired at the other window.
Then, hiding behind a box, he used the western theme's dynamite prop, throwing it up to the second floor.
Before the fuse could even burn all the way, Lee Gyeongbok stood up and aimed. The bullet he fired passed clean through the dynamite.
With a flash and explosion, the last outlaw fell.
"Wow!"
"Crazy..."
Voices of amazement burst out simultaneously, and the director shouted out with a big grin.
"Cuuuuuut!"
There was nothing to NG—it was a perfect single take.

With the shoot complete, the remaining editing was up to the commercial director and GGG, so Lee Gyeongbok and Park Juho prepared to leave.
"They'll coordinate via the edited video like last time, right?"
"That's the plan."
Choi Byeonghun and Park Juho were likely to be involved in the review process again, but there was no need for them to hang around the company any longer.
"Purple!"
Just as they were about to leave, the marketing manager hurriedly ran up.
With a sincere smile, he bowed and handed them a stack of paper.
"What's this?"
Park Juho checked the paper and asked. On small cards, qR codes were printed.
"Ah, these are raffle box coupons for our offline event."
"Coupons? Wait, why give these..."
"Please, don't feel pressured. The shoot went so well this time, and thanks to you we finished much faster than expected. So we're able to move the schedule up, too."
The manager waved his hands as he explained.
"Feel free to use the coupons however you like—give them to viewers, or your friends. It's just a token of gratitude, unrelated to the commercial."
"Then, thank you very much."
There was no reason to refuse a kind offer. As they finished their goodbyes and turned to leave—
"Purple! Purple!?"
Someone called out urgently.
It was the commercial director.
"... Purple?"
When he saw Lee Gyeongbok, his eyes widened.
'Wait, this is really Purple? Judging by his build, I guess so?'
The director couldn't hide his shock.
They'd filmed together all day, but this was the first time he'd seen his actual face.
'He just has a celebrity mask, doesn't he?'
Even compared to countless celebrities he'd worked with as a commercial director, his looks were second to none.
'No, considering his talent, immersion, and skill, he's above even a celebrity!'
It wasn't just the looks, but also his ability to wholly adapt to the situation and environment, with skill that backed up the character.
The director hurriedly offered his business card to Purple.
"That was an amazing commercial shoot. If you ever need anything filming-wise, please get in touch."
"Huh? Ah, yes. Thank you very much."
Lee Gyeongbok was surprised, but accepted the card. Only after saying their goodbyes to the manager and director did he and Park Juho leave the building.
"How did our own shoot go?"
Getting into the car, Lee Gyeongbok asked Park Juho. While he was working on the commercial, Park Juho hadn't just been idly waiting.
"I already sent it to Choi Byeonghun."
"You're fast as always. But did we really need to shoot a B-cut?"
Park Juho had documented the commercial shoot from a third-person perspective.
The B-cut was to compile footage not shown in the official video.
"The director is skilled, and GGG also put serious effort in."
To Lee Gyeongbok, there seemed no need to film a B-cut. Park Juho chuckled.
"The B-cut's not about perfection. What's important is making the fans feel treated specially."
"Special treatment?"
Park Juho nodded as he gently pressed the accelerator.
"Anyone can see the A-cut. But the B-cut, uploaded only to Purple Channel, is seen first by regular fans. They'll like the B-cut more, I bet."
"Really?"
"Yes. And it's not like the quality falls that short."
Park Juho smiled.
"You know how skilled Choi Byeonghun is."
* * *
The next day.
A new video appeared on GGG's official Q-tube. It was a commercial for the newly released mobile Gunner Ground: Showdown.
[-Ah lol I'm not buying it, not buying it!]
[-Don't you know auto-hunting is the national rule for mobile?]
[-Seriously, mobile FPS is way too tiring, can't do it lol]
[-They're premiering a commercial? So cocky!]
[-I got excited thinking it was for a capsule update...]
The chat for the video's premiere was filled with negative comments. But the mood quickly flipped.
[-?]
[-Hyung, why are YOU there?!]
[-Godple descends!]
[-Lol, hyung should be taking a break, but he's shooting a commercial!]
[-Of course he works even during vacation, that's Black Company logic!]
[-Are you crazy, lol]
Once it was revealed the model was Lee Gyeongbok, the chat was filled with laughter.
[-Sheriff Godple, what is this?]
[-Wow, the style is insane]
[-Those eyes, though!]
[-At this level, only peak Clint Westwood can compare^^]
[-Lol are you saying this is legendary? Lol]
[-5252! What is that fanning technique?!]
Viewers marvelled at the shootout in the ad. But something else surprised them even more.
[-Huh?]
[-They used Annihilator AI for the other characters?]
[-Smashed it lol]
[-What? Killing Annihilator twice?]
[-Whether it's the final boss or not, for Godple it's just a way to make money!]
[-Peak capitalism! So scary!]
[-If you couldn't beat him with a machine body, how would you even do it as a human lol]
[-Annihilator dude, was that your only trick?]
As it was a commercial, the video wasn't long. Just as viewers started to complain about the length—
[-Oh? Making film uploaded right away?]
[-The combo is insane lol]
[-Ah lol, can't resist a Godple making-of!]
[-Hey! You should have released THIS first!]
[-I'm off to watch!]
A making-of film was linked next. It was also a premiere, and viewers immediately went over.
[-Oh? It was all shot in the GunG engine?]
[-Shouldn't you recognize Annihilator making an appearance? lol]
[-Still, the GGG engine is good]
[-Please, just balance the game!]
[-Lol, godple helped plan it too]
[-No wonder the commercial looks so different from before]
[-Is there *anything* he can't do?!]
Scenes of development using the game engine and filming passed by quickly. At last, an interview with Lee Gyeongbok began.
"Hello! I'm streamer Purple. I've had another great experience working with GGG."
His bright greeting filled the chat with cries of "Per-ha".
"Those who know Gunner Ground Showdown know I enjoyed it a lot over on V-STAR."
[-Ah lol, that was seriously fun]
[-Wow, just remembering the queue times still annoys me lol]
[-The Purple viewer who fought Godple 1v1 back then, so jealous]
[-Honestly, that's something to brag about lol]
The mention of V-STAR had viewers reminiscing and laughing.
"I only provided data during Time Warfare, but this was my first time actually shooting a commercial, so I was a bit nervous. But the set was more fun than I expected, and everyone really helped, so I enjoyed it."
[-Nervous? Godple?]
[-He's being deceitful again lol]
[-There's Purple confidence right here]
[-Lol, with all the proof right in front of us]
[-Ah lol, (it was the director and staff) who were nervous, right?]
[-Lol, subject omitted, right?]
Viewers didn't take his words at face value. The shoot had been so natural that "first time" was hard to believe.
"Still, I had lots of new experiences. GGG's technology really impressed me. The upcoming western-themed update is going to be a blast."
[-Capitalism quick draw!]
[-Ah lol, gotta compliment your sponsors]
[-Honestly, the tech is legit]
[-Western theme? Even better!]
[-1:1 gunfights ARE westerns, lol]
As the making film neared its end, Lee Gyeongbok pointed to the bottom of the screen.
"GGG prepared lots of gifts for you for this update! Link your capsule and mobile accounts and enter code 'PerfectShowdown' below!"
[-Perfect Showdown lol]
[-Ah lol, since it's my hyung, I'll install it]
[-Just for this time, right?]
[-Fact: If Godple is in the commercial, everyone plays it]
[-You're not claiming this? Coupon kick!]
The video ended just like that.
Viewers were about to leave, when—
[-Huh? What's this?]
[-Is there another video?]
[-Oh? Purple Channel?]
[-Lol, a B-cut?]
[-A triple combo, what the heck?!]
[-Q-tube algorithm, you scary!]
The algorithm recommended another video—the B-cut uploaded on Purple channel.
[-Lol, did manager go with him?]
[-Our hyung loves playing around lol]
[-Lol, why jab the manager for no reason?]
[-Why's he so good at weaving, too lol]
Unlike the serious official video, this one showed a playful Lee Gyeongbok.
[-What's with the scissor shape with his fingers lol]
[-Lol editing request lol]
[-He got surprised realizing it was still filming, lol]
[-No~ not happening~ gonna upload it all~]
[-Is this a Black Company whistleblower video?]
[-The captions are in human documentary style too lol]
[-Editor's sense is crazy lol]
But it wasn't just goofing off.
[-Even just talking to the director, why does he look so cool?]
[-That sharp on/off switch, so charming]
[-Men look best when serious, I'm telling you]
[-I'm serious when picking lunch too...]
[-This guy goes after taste, not style, lol]
[-Are you nuts, lololol]
[-Good to see another side you don't on Tri stream]
[-Lol, would love more videos like this sometimes]
The B-cut neared its end and viewers felt regret creeping in.
[-Give us more! No, bring it all over!]
[-Ah lol, stop messing around]
[-It's been so long since a Purple withdrawal fix, and this is it?]
[-That'll only make my withdrawal symptoms worse!]
Their noisy chat suddenly changed.
"Trha!"
The dim screen switched to Lee Gyeongbok's studio. The chat filled with question marks.
"Hope you've all been well! I finished CrazySmurf and have been resting, but as you saw, I wasn't doing nothing."
Lee Gyeongbok smiled as he continued.
"While figuring out what to do for my next content, I got a great opportunity. Ah, and this isn't about the Showdown ad. To be accurate, I didn't just get only the Showdown offer."
[-Another ad?]
[-What's he hinting at?]
[-Isn't he streaming Showdown?]
[-Is something huge coming?]
Curiosity swelled. Then, a logo appeared next to Lee Gyeongbok.
"When you think about westerns, the game that comes to mind—Royal Desperate Revenge! This time's western update to Showdown is with Rock'n'Roll Games!"
The chat froze.
Meanwhile, Lee Gyeongbok finished his announcement.
"My next stream is Rock'n'Roll Games' upcoming title—the capsule version of Roderi! Hope you're all looking forward to it!"
The video ended, teasing his next content.
[-Roderi is coming out for capsule?!]
[-Something huge is coming!]
[-Dude, why bury a bombshell like this in a B-cut!]
The news of Rock'n'Roll Games' new release was amazing—but the real reason for the joy was something else.
[-No more hiatus! No more hiatus!]
[-Purple replenished! ON! Purple replenished! ON!]
[-Purple's back, finally!]
[-The reign of reruns is over!]
[-It hasn't even been months, why's everyone so hyped?]
[-That's just how strong our Purple withdrawal is!]
It was the fact that Lee Gyeongbok's streams were starting up again.
