From his hidden vantage point, Harry watched the Death Eaters lurking at the edge of the forest. Their postures shifted, confusion and frustration visible in their stiff movements. One of them—the taller of the group—whipped off his mask, revealing a face twisted in fury. Harry recognized him instantly.
“Crouch Jr.,” Harry muttered with a faint smirk, his grip on his wand tightening.
Crouch Jr. barked orders at the others, his voice carrying over the din. “Who did this? Find them! NOW!”
With the arrival of the Death Eaters, chaos swept through the campsite like wildfire. Screams pierced the night as families scrambled to escape the sudden threat. Ministry Aurors and enforcers, however, were far from unprepared. Almost instantly, they moved into action, casting protective barriers, calming spells, and defensive wards. Their movements were sharp and efficient, showed how much Amelia Bones’ leadership changed things around.
Harry stood at the edge of the campsite under the cover of his Invisibility Cloak, his expression neutral as he observed the unfolding scene. He had no intention of stepping into the fray. His focus was singular: the defenseless. If any children or weaker individuals became targets, he would intervene—quietly and without drawing attention. Otherwise, the Ministry could handle it. He already done his part.
Figures began Apparating in bursts of soundless light, and Harry recognized several senior Aurors stepping into the chaos. Kingsley Shacklebolt’s towering form was unmistakable as he led a group of Aurors toward the heart of the disturbance, his wand raised and spells flying with practiced precision. Alastor Moody limped into view shortly after, his magical eye swiveling wildly as he barked orders at the enforcers around him. The man’s sheer presence was enough to cow some of the more hesitant wizards into action.
Harry’s eyes flicked briefly to a cluster of children being led away by their parents, their faces pale with fear. He noted a stumbling toddler who had tripped in the rush, his mother frantically trying to pull him to his feet as the crowd surged around them. Without hesitation, Harry aimed his wand under the cover of his cloak, silently casting a levitation charm to lift the child and deposit him safely into his mother’s arms. The woman didn’t seem to notice the magic, too preoccupied with escaping, but Harry turned his attention elsewhere.
The Death Eaters themselves were scattered, their ranks far less organized than Harry might have expected. It seemed this was less an actual attack and more an opportunistic display of power. They cast random spells into the air, aimed more at causing panic than real damage. A handful of tents erupted in flames, but the fires were quickly extinguished by nearby wizards.
At the center of it all, Barty Crouch Jr. stood now masked once more, shouting commands to the others. His frustration was evident as the Dark Mark above twisted into its warped, mocking version. Harry’s lips quirked into a faint smirk as he watched Crouch gesturing angrily at the sky.
Harry’s attention shifted to a nearby Auror who had disarmed a masked Death Eater and was now binding him with ropes. The captured man struggled briefly before falling still, his masked head drooping in defeat. Around the campsite, more Aurors were subduing the attackers with impressive efficiency. For all their posturing, the Death Eaters were clearly outmatched.
Back at the tent, Harry removed his cloak before stepping inside. The hum of chatter from his friends hit him immediately. They were gathered around the table, laughing and exchanging exaggerated recounts of the match, blissfully unaware of the chaos that had unfolded outside.
Astoria was mid-sentence, dramatically re-enacting one of Moran’s dives when she noticed Harry entering. “Finally!” she exclaimed, throwing her hands up. “I thought you’d abandoned us to plot world domination again.”
“Or he got lost,” Blaise added, smirking as he leaned back in his chair. “Happens to the best of us.”
Harry shook his head as he stepped into the tent, letting out a sharp sigh. His expression was a blend of exasperation and disbelief. “You lot have no idea what just happened, do you?” he said, his voice cutting through the lively chatter.
Cyrus Greengrass and Arthur Weasley stood up sharply. Cyrus’s usual composure cracked, his eyes narrowing at Harry. “What’s wrong?” he asked, his voice edged with concern.
Arthur turned toward Harry. “Harry, what’s happened?"
Harry sat down, crossing one leg over the other. “It’s fine now,” he said. “But the Dark Mark appeared in the sky before a group of Death Eaters attacked the campsite. As I said, the rumor had already reached the Aurors beforehand, so they wrapped up the situation quickly. Fortunately, it’s under control, and there don’t seem to be any casualties.”
