Chapter 135 Special Soldiers
Chapter 135 Special Soldiers
"Here they are. 100 soldiers and as much ammunition and weapons as you need."
"Good work. You can leave the rest to me," Lucifer said calmly to the Colonel. The Colonel nodded and left. Lucifer then turned his gaze toward the 100 soldiers, who were lined up in disciplined formation.
These men, chosen from the most experienced soldiers of the USA, were highly skilled. They had served with distinction in Afghanistan and Syria, proving themselves as patriots.
Their uniforms were different from standard military attire. Completely black and equipped with heavy gear, they lacked conventional helmets. Instead, they wore sleek yet intimidating helmets that covered their entire face and included a built-in breathing mask.
While designing the uniforms, Lucifer ensured they would unsettle anyone who saw them. Thanks to his enhanced brain, far superior to a normal human's, the uniforms surpassed the quality of modern times by several levels.
The design of the armored vests and other gear was his own. For the technical aspects, he collaborated with experienced professionals, making the equipment highly functional.
Initially, Lucifer had wanted a nano-armor, but such technology seemed like a distant dream. Instead, he integrated an AI-powered technological lens into the helmets.
Although still a prototype, the lens used available technology to connect wirelessly to the internet. This allowed the lens to instantly identify any person it saw and relay their information to the soldiers' Bluetooth-connected earpieces.
The lens wasn't limited to this. It also had a built-in camera. Using a powerful mini-camera from a reputable company, the lens streamed live footage back to the main Agency headquarters.
The staff at the headquarters remained in constant communication with Lucifer and the soldiers. As for their weapons, they wielded black XM7 rifles.
Although these weapons appeared ordinary, Lucifer had infused the bullets with Mana. Initially, this seemed impossible, but the Mana stayed within the bullets, turning them into highly lethal projectiles.
The bullets became powerful enough to easily penetrate steel. Human-made ballistic vests were useless against them—Lucifer was certain of this.
"Prepare yourselves!"
Lucifer commanded, and the disciplined soldiers instantly stood at attention in perfect synchronization. Smiling with satisfaction, he continued, "Now, we'll conduct our first exercise. I expect great courage and efficiency from you all."
Raising his arm, Lucifer let shadows flow from it, spreading across the large training ground. With his keen hearing, he noticed some soldiers growing nervous but paid no attention, focusing instead on commanding the shadows.
The shadows converged ahead, taking the form of Mephisto—the first demon Lucifer had fought. The giant shadow beast grew until it stood 20 meters tall.
Ceasing his infusion of shadows, Lucifer stepped back and leaped onto a high ramp. Calmly, he addressed the soldiers. "The right group will flank. The left group will move forward and fire on the beast. The remaining two groups will harass it from two different sides with hit-and-run tactics."
At his command, the soldiers sprang into action. The left group advanced and opened fire on the shadow beast as it stirred. Meanwhile, the right group withdrew and took positions behind barriers.
"Right group! Don't cluster together! Keep moving and avoid becoming a concentrated target!"
Lucifer's warning prompted the right group to disperse. The middle group harassed the beast with single shots, drawing its attention as it targeted the left group.
"When the left group retreats, the right group will suppress the beast with covering fire. The middle group will reposition behind the beast and divert its attention!"
"You must be Mr. Regnolds," Lucifer replied, his gaze falling on Richard Regnolds, the owner of the Vanguard Corporation. This man ran the largest military technology company in the USA.
Vanguard was a giant in the industry, known for seizing every opportunity. It was also the company that produced the custom AI, Lens, for Lucifer.
Although Lucifer initially had no desire to collaborate with this man, they had quickly reached an agreement upon hearing about a certain project.
That project was Vanguard Demon Hunting—a venture that would operate publicly. The concept involved bounties for captured demons and a trade system for certain artifacts.
While Vanguard would provide equipment support to the hunters, Lucifer would supply items like swords, arrows, and spears capable of affecting demons.
Typically, Vanguard would have sought advanced weaponry, but Lucifer insisted that only the Paranormal Defense Agency have access to such arms. As a result, Vanguard had to settle for old-fashioned medieval weapons such as swords and arrows.
Lucifer would enchant these weapons with Mana, offering both support and enhancements for $10,000 per piece. However, enchanted weapons were expected to last only two to three months at best.
This is where Vanguard stepped in: for a specific fee, they would upgrade the weapons and improve them based on the hunter's success rate and credits earned.
The first hunters would start at F-rank. F-rank demon hunters would initially receive simple weapons lasting one to two months. Upon rising to E-rank, they would gain access to higher-quality weapons.
Progressing through the ranks, they could eventually achieve S-rank Demon Hunter status. At C-rank, hunters would officially sign contracts with Vanguard and receive advanced weapons every six months for free.
At A-rank, demon hunters would become guildmasters, gaining access to weapons that were continuously upgraded and renewed by Vanguard without any time limit.
An S-rank Demon Hunter would become nearly legendary, wielding the finest weapons crafted by Lucifer. These should not be underestimated.
B-rank Demon Hunters would begin using weapons blessed with attributes like lightning, fire, or wind, laying the groundwork for supernatural power. S-rank Demon Hunters would represent Vanguard's ultimate strength. Read new chapters at empire
The agreement was nearly finalized. Though demons had yet to fully reveal themselves, Lucifer's Mana sensitivity made it clear that the world was about to change dramatically.
While Lucifer had not initially sensed Mana in this world, his presence seemed to be gradually increasing the planet's Mana levels. This was due to individuals like him, practically Mana waterfalls in human form.
The demons' Mana was also causing changes and increases in the world's Mana levels. This made Earth more hospitable for demons to manifest—a reality Lucifer was certain of.
"Now that all the terms are settled, we can finalize the agreement," Mr. Regnolds said calmly. Lucifer nodded and shook the man's outstretched hand.
"The first shipment will take place in one week. Additionally, I want you to be ready. The official launch of Vanguard Demon Hunting is imminent."
At Lucifer's words, Mr. Regnolds grinned, sensing the scent of money. He then stepped back. "Don't worry. Registration will open within the week."
Lucifer nodded, finding no reason to linger, and left. After his departure, Mr. Regnolds sent a message to his secretary.
"Contact the shareholders. We're holding a meeting soon."
"As you wish, Mr. Regnolds."
