Chapter 158 Beast God of the Orc Empire(11/?)

Chapter 158 Beast God of the Orc Empire(11/?)

deep within the orc empire, amidst a massive and chaotic volcano, stood a magnificent palace that remained unshaken despite all the destruction and chaos surrounding it.

the palace spread out astonishingly and was covered in a fiery obsidian hue, as if forged from molten lava. situated in the middle of a vast desert, it appeared to be the only treasure of immeasurable value, unrivaled and unmatched in grandeur.

inside the palace stood an armored orc whose height surpassed that of all other wild orcs. his armor radiated a crimson aura as if it had fought in the deepest pits of hell. it would not be surprising if any human collapsed from sheer terror at the sight.

this unparalleled orc was none other than markul, the emperor of the orc empire. the emperor wore no helmet.

his face was covered in countless scars, and one of his eyes was missing. his body trembled pitifully as if fresh from a battle. yet, despite the pain that made him wince, his face still brimmed with arrogance and rage.

that rage had ignited after his battle with priestess isolde. the mighty emperor had been beaten by a mere priestess and left in a pitiable state, even losing an eye in the process.

had he not fled, he would undoubtedly have been slain by priestess isolde. no matter how much he thought about it, markul couldn't contain himself and smashed the table with his fist.

"that human! that puppet! how dare she!"

the emperor swung his fist again, crushing the head of a goblin servant. as the other goblins whimpered in fear, markul's fury remained unabated.

"summon the high shaman immediately!" markul commanded with rage. the goblins scurried to fulfill the order, and before long, a frail and hunched orc entered through the door.

"it seems his majesty has been injured," the wise orc remarked curiously. hearing the high shaman, the emperor restrained himself, glaring at the shaman with anger.

despite being the emperor, markul knew that the high shaman, contrary to his appearance, was extremely powerful. thus, he was forced to suppress his anger and scowled instead.

"the time has come," markul declared firmly. the high shaman narrowed his eyes as markul continued, "that wench stole a piece of the holy grail. we must stop her before she escapes."

"do you mean—"

"we must awaken the beast god," markul stated in a low but resolute voice. the mere mention of the god's name brought a momentary silence to the room. the high shaman's emotionless face faltered slightly.

"do you realize what you're saying? the time has not yet come. if the beast god awakens prematurely, he will not reach his full power."

"that also means we might be able to control him," markul countered, a glint of greed flashing in his eyes. if he could use the beast god as a war machine, no force would be able to escape the glorious orc empire.

as markul envisioned the entire world of aure under the orc empire's rule, his determination grew stronger. the high shaman trembled with anger. "you fool... are you not afraid of the god's wrath?"

mocking the shaman, markul merely grinned. "think about it, shaman. if we can control the beast god, then nothing will stand in our way—not even the goddess of light."

the high shaman's eyes widened. though markul's words did not sway him, he stared at the emperor with disappointment. he sighed. "you are making a grave mistake, markul. the beast god is not something mortals like you can control."

"you dare overstep your bounds, shaman," markul growled like a beast. the high shaman smirked and raised his mana. "know your place, child. i am not as weak as the goblins you crush."

as his wounded body trembled under the shaman's oppressive mana, markul's fury flared even more. instinctively, he reached for his double-bladed axe.

caught off guard by the high shaman's merciless gaze, markul hesitated momentarily before stepping back to calm the shaman. "fine, have it your way. now leave my palace."

the high shaman smiled triumphantly before departing. a mysterious smile appeared on markul's lips. "bring the spy shaman to me, along with all shamans not loyal to the high shaman."

"y-yes, your majesty," stammered a terrified goblin as it hurried off. markul, the emperor, then quickly descended to the deepest level of the palace.

the palace's ground floor was a massive chamber filled with magical artifacts and treasures. the most striking feature, however, was a colossal magical circle.

this circle had been lost after king arthur's death 700 years ago but was rediscovered and inscribed onto the floor by a past emperor.

"you've long been a hindrance to the rise of the orcs!" as the axe was about to strike the grand shaman, the elder dodged with remarkable agility.

the emperor's face twisted into a vile grin. manipulated by the miasma, he launched a frenzied attack on the grand shaman.

"fool! come to your senses! don't meddle with the gods! this—"

before the grand shaman could finish his sentence, the emperor's axe swung toward him. the grand shaman immediately conjured a magical barrier to block the attack.

"shut up! just die, old man!" the emperor roared in pain as dozens of lightning bolts struck his body. the grand shaman, disgusted, turned to the circle and hurriedly tried to cancel the ritual before the emperor could recover.

"no!"

the emperor, despite the agony, took a step forward and hurled his axe. the weapon struck the grand shaman's shoulder, causing him to collapse to the ground.

with a monstrous grin, the emperor advanced toward the fallen grand shaman. raising his fist, he attempted to crush the elder's head with all his might.

but suddenly, as the miasma engulfed his body, the emperor was abruptly dragged toward the circle. merkür roared in fury, thrashing within the miasma, until the magical rope conjured by the grand shaman wrapped around his arm in an attempt to save him.

"you fool! stupid child! why don't you ever listen to me?!" the grand shaman struggled to remain calm as he pulled the rope with all his strength to rescue the emperor.

"you! what are you doing?! i—"

merkür looked at the grand shaman in astonishment. just as he was about to escape the miasma, its density intensified, completely engulfing him.

"no!!"

the grand shaman screamed in panic. once the circle had consumed enough power, it erupted in an infinite dark-red glow...

"merkür... you foolish child!"

the grand shaman's eyes widened in terror as the miasma retreated, condensing and reshaping itself. it trembled the entire palace in a horrifying manner.

"i... i was only trying to protect you, merkür..." the grand shaman let out a pitiful laugh, stepping back despite his injury as the miasma gradually formed a figure.

with grief and dread in his eyes, the grand shaman gazed at the monstrous figure rising before him. the shape finally solidified into a humanoid form.

a knight-like armor adorned its body, torn and black as if it were dancing shadows. the armor was fractured in several places, revealing dark and dreadful flames within.

but the most terrifying aspect was the helmet's eye slits, where crimson, dragon-like flames burned. even beneath the helmet, the fiery eyes glowed.

the very air around the beast god trembled from its overwhelming power. even its broken, rusted sword appeared as fearsome as a legendary weapon.

"grrrr..."

the grand shaman widened his eyes as he heard the beast god growl like a dragon. for a man of decades of wisdom, the beast god was the epitome of nightmare incarnate.

when the beast god took its first step, the ground beneath it shattered. the grand shaman panicked in fear. the floor, sturdy enough to withstand even a powerful mana strike, crumbled completely under the lightest step of a god.

cracks spread rapidly across the entire floor as the grand shaman struggled to retreat.

step by step, the beast god advanced. this time, its movements were controlled and soundless. the grand shaman's heart raced faster than ever.

eventually, the grand shaman caught sight of the beast god's shadow, letting out a pitiful chuckle. "i... i failed. and so miserably..."

the beast god swung its sword. despite its rusted and dull appearance, the broken blade severed the grand shaman's head smoothly, killing him instantly.
