Chapter 319 I Hate You...
Chapter 319 I Hate You...
Eva remained silent for a moment, her gaze fixed on the sea as she thought about her response, before asking him a question of her own. "What happened to Layla and the others? I thought you would be spending the whole night with them..."
"Haha, well... They were exhausted after a few intense sessions, so they fell asleep. And I took the chance to come and look for you." Lucifer explained with a chuckle, "But let's not talk about them. This is about you, not anyone else. So tell me, how are you feeling now?"
"I'm fine..." Eva murmured, and he could sense a bit of sadness in her voice. "Or at least I will be eventually. But I'm not going to cry anymore, if that's what you are asking. I won't shed another tear because of James ever again."
Lucifer smiled at those words and gave her an affectionate squeeze. He liked seeing this more determined side of her. "I see... Good for you."
"Yeah..." Eva nodded as she continued staring into the ocean.
There was another period of silence between them as they both looked out at the water, but it didn't feel uncomfortable at all; rather, it was a comfortable, almost peaceful kind of quiet.
However, after a while, Eva broke the silence, her tone sounding a bit uncertain as if she was debating something inside herself before finally deciding to speak. "Hey, Lucifer? I have something to ask you..."
"Go ahead. You know that you can ask me anything." He answered without hesitation. "What's on your mind, Eva?"
Taking a deep breath, she turned around in his arms so they were now facing each other. As their eyes met, Eva paused for a moment before continuing. "Did you know that this would happen? That James would reject me and I would end up being hurt again?"
"Yes, I did..." Lucifer nodded as he caressed her cheek gently with his fingers. "I knew what would happen, Eva, and I am sorry I pushed you into this situation. But you needed this. You needed to see for yourself that James isn't the one for you, that he doesn't care about your happiness as much as you deserve. And I knew you wouldn't accept it unless you experienced this firsthand..."
Eva lowered her gaze as she let those words sink into her, realizing that he had spoken the truth. She had needed this lesson, and even though it hurt her, it also made her realize just how wrong she was to think that things would change with time. Explore stories on My Virtual Library Empire
It was only when she heard his next question that she lifted her head again and looked at him.
It was just a quick kiss, barely lasting for a second or two, but Lucifer was taken aback nonetheless.
Seeing his dumbfounded look, Eva chuckled and added in a playful tone. "Now stop teasing me, you bastard."
"Hah... If this is what you do to the people you hate, then I can only imagine what you'd do to someone you like..." Lucifer chuckled and leaned forward to return the gesture, but Eva moved away, shaking her head.
"Nah-ah! Not so fast! If you want more, then you will have to earn it..." Eva said in a teasing tone as she backed away from him. "Because, right now, I am still not in the right state of mind to decide anything."
"Is that so? Then why did you kiss me?" Lucifer asked with a sly grin on his face. His blue eyes were staring directly into Eva's, making her blush as he did so.
"W-well... I just wanted to get something good out of this horrible night..." Eva answered while averting her gaze from his, feeling embarrassed by what she had done. It felt like she had let herself be carried away by the atmosphere between them and made a move without thinking about it first. "Besides, it's your fault for putting me through this, so I should get some compensation..."
"Hahaha! Alright, alright. If you think that's compensation for all the pain you went through, then I don't mind giving it to you. So, come here, and I'll give you a kiss. A real one." Lucifer said while spreading his arms and inviting her into another embrace, "Don't worry, though. I won't do anything more than that."
But instead of taking his offer, Eva turned around and began walking towards the yacht's door, "No, thank you! I think I've had enough of men for today! So you can save that 'real kiss' of yours for Layla and the other girls..."
"Aww, that's too bad... And here I thought we could spend some quality time together..." Lucifer said in a disappointed tone as he watched her walk away.
When she was almost out of earshot, however, she turned her head to look back at him and winked before saying in a flirty manner, "Well... Maybe tomorrow... Who knows...?"
Then, Eva disappeared inside the yacht, leaving Lucifer alone with his thoughts as he looked up at the starry night sky. As he stood there in silence, a small smile crept onto his lips, and he couldn't help but chuckle.
"Maybe... huh?" Lucifer murmured to himself. "We'll see about that..."
