Chapter 2414 - 2390: Rewarding Merit
Gao Yang straightened up, watching Albert carry Lavagani away. He lowered his voice and said, "There’s nothing more to ask. This leads to the other side, but I don’t know if Hadi has left."Peter said softly, "He said the tunnel exit is not far from the Presidential Palace. This is confidential information. Even though he knows very little, we must take it seriously."
If Hadi wants to leave through the tunnel, it’s difficult, or rather dangerous, because the tunnel exit is too close to the Presidential Palace. This information must be kept secret because it wouldn’t be in Satan’s interest if Hadi were captured or killed.
Gao Yang exhaled and nodded, "Make it quick for him. Make it look like he got injured in battle and just held on for a while before dying."
Peter nodded, stepped back a few paces, and aimed at the chest of the captive, firing a shot.
This shot of Peter’s was calculated. It hit the chest of the captive but neither severely damaged the lungs nor hit the heart. It was the type of injury that was fatal but allowed the captive to hold on for a while.
But Gao Yang shook his head, "No one will investigate this. Since he already talked, there’s no need to let him die in pain. Make it quick for him."
Peter immediately fired a shot into the captive’s heart.
Being a schemer is certainly difficult and quite exhausting, especially for someone with a hint of conscience. It’s not a pleasant choice.
Looking at the corpse on the ground, Gao Yang felt a slight sense of regret, but no apology. Since he was the enemy, Gao Yang wouldn’t feel sympathy or remorse. He mostly remarked to himself how his heart was getting increasingly hardened.
Finally leaving the basement, as Gao Yang left the doorway, Glolov immediately stood by his side. As he quickened his pace alongside Gao Yang, he whispered, "The Government Forces’ offensive is fierce, but poses no major threat. The Houthis Armed Forces can handle it."
During the rescue of Lavagani, they hadn’t encountered the tough guys protecting Hadi. Those mercenaries and the Presidential Guard Squad must have been safeguarding Hadi, which is why Gao Yang and his team could relatively easily rescue Lavagani.
Now, the underground shelter where Lavagani was held has already been breached. The other underground shelter has temporarily not been attacked, but as long as Hadi is inside, taking down the shelter would be a tough fight, and Gao Yang doesn’t plan on confronting Hadi’s Guard Squad.
Gao Yang nodded, speaking softly, "That’s fine, we have plenty of time."
Holding the talkie’s microphone, Gao Yang said sternly, "Salim, respond please."
"I’m here, what’s up?"
Gao Yang said in a low voice, "We’ve already rescued Lavagani. Have his men come and take him out. We still need to clear some remnants in the building. Also, during the rescue, we discovered a passage in the underground shelter that leads to where Hadi is."
Salim immediately became tense, shouting, "Are you sure?"
"Confirmed, Hadi is very likely still in the underground shelter. It’s best to send someone to launch a quick attack. Entering from the underground shelter where Lavagani was rescued is a good choice. We’ve already exhausted all assault equipment, unable to participate in the next battle, but we can still take over the Presidential Palace building."
Now let’s have the Iranians go head-on with Hadi. If Hadi has already left, it doesn’t matter even if the Iranians break into the underground shelter. But if Hadi hasn’t left, then the Iranians won’t be able to get in.
The key issue is to ensure Salim or the Iranians don’t know the exit of the tunnel is nearby. If the Houthis Armed Forces dispatch a large number of troops to surround the area, making it like a steel barrel that prevents Hadi from escaping, then that’s real trouble.
After briefly explaining the situation, Gao Yang pointed to Hadi’s residence and said, "Brothers, let’s go in. Take whatever you like or what’s valuable, that’s our reward for rescuing Lavagani. But make it quick."
Returning empty-handed from a treasure mountain is unacceptable. The Presidential Palace hasn’t been fully captured yet, but Satan breached its defenses, first rushed inside, and rescued Lavagani. When looting the spoils, naturally, they get the first pick, and regardless of whether Salim knows Gao Yang’s team is going into Hadi’s residence, he surely wouldn’t stop them.
Gao Yang and his team quickly entered Hadi’s residence, gazing at the splendid palace. Gao Yang exhaled and shouted, "Who’s not here yet? Fat Cat, are you ready there?"
Albert urgently said, "Handed Lavagani to the Iranians. I’m heading back right now, right away."
Only seconds later, Albert rushed into the opulent hall, rubbing his hands with a surprised look, saying, "Why haven’t you started yet? Could you be waiting for me?"
"Indeed, waiting for you! Brothers, take what you like, but whoever grabs it first keeps it. No stealing. I’m saying upfront, those antique hunting rifles I saw are mine, nobody can snatch them."
Looting doesn’t harm morale, but competing over it can damage harmony. Gao Yang doesn’t want to see Satan’s people falling out over spoils, so despite thinking there wouldn’t be a problem, he still issued a warning.
Having said what needed to be said, Gao Yang couldn’t help but rub his hands and shouted, "What are you waiting for? Get moving!"
Gao Yang hurriedly ran into the room where he had seen the hunting rifles earlier. Upon entering, he immediately took two rifles off the wall and strapped them on his back.
Yemen is poor, but the Presidential Palace certainly isn’t. After getting the most desired items, Gao Yang wasn’t sure what to take next.
Frey shouted as he ran, "Office, where’s the office?"
Cui Bo urged, "Fool, what good stuff can there be in the office? Where’s the bedroom? Take me to find stuff in the bedroom!"
Cui Bo and Frey charged into the bedroom. Frey had already been inside, clearing room after room, so he naturally knew where the bedroom was. Cui Bo had been outside covering, so he didn’t know where the bedroom was.
Gao Yang was in a reception room. Only a reception room like this would have antique guns hung to decorate the place. In a country like Yemen, where everyone loves guns, the reception room actually had four guns hanging, not two. But the other two were Yemeni-specific antique guns, adorned with gold and silver, without stocks, featuring a long-barreled flintlock with a curved grip instead. Such guns are admired in Yemen, but nobody wants them elsewhere.
The reception room was actually a Khat Room, carpeted with cushions placed around. But once the guns were taken, there wasn’t anything valuable left.
Taking a look around the empty reception room, Gao Yang intended to leave but after glancing at the other two guns on the wall, he felt it would be a waste to just leave them there. Instead, he decided it would be nice to give them to Abdullah and Salim.
