The staff member approached Soong Wan with a question.
“Excuse me, are you Miss Soong?”
Soong Wan nodded, a smile gracing her face. She leaned in closer to Jiang Hao and whispered excitedly.

With that, she grabbed Jiang Hao's hand and told the staff member,
“Let's go!”
The staff member gestured for them to follow and led them around to the back.
In no time, guided by the staff, they reached backstage.
There, a middle-aged woman greeted them warmly.
Soong Wan, clearly familiar with her, greeted her with a cheerful laugh.
“Aunt Hong, where's Niching?”
Aunt Hong's face lit up with a smile upon seeing Soong Wan.
“Niching is inside, waiting for you!”
Then, turning to Jiang Hao with a hint of surprise, she asked,
“And who might this be?”
Aunt Hong was inwardly taken aback by Jiang Hao. She found herself unable to read this young man, an occurrence that was entirely new to her.
Just then, Feng Nichang glanced over and, recognizing Soong Wan, her face broke into a smile as she swiftly rose to meet her.
“Wan'er, you've arrived!”
Soong Wan gave a nod and dove right into her concern.
“You look quite troubled. Is something the matter?”
It was at this point that Aunt Hong chimed in.
“It's the staff—they've been less than competent. Nishang is about to take the stage,
and the musician who was supposed to accompany her on the guqin just called to bail, claiming he had an urgent matter!”
“I should've managed the preparations better myself,” Aunt Hong lamented, clearly vexed by the situation.
Hearing this, Soong Wan's worry for Feng Nichang intensified.
“What are we going to do now?”
“Isn't there another guqin player available?”
Feng Nichang replied, “There are a couple who can strum a few tunes, but they can't match my pace.”
Feng Nichang's words were gentle, but her message was unmistakable:
Their skills were simply not up to par, and they wouldn't suffice.
