Chapter 239 System Glitch?
Chapter 239 System Glitch?
Hugo was staring at Celine's lips.
Not subtly. Not even close.
He was using the Triangle Method—glancing at her eyes, then her lips, then back to her eyes, over and over again.
He didn't even know if he was doing it exactly right, but who cared?!
Because Celine? Celine was staring back.
Her big bright eyes held a spark of amusement, like she could see right through his little tactic. But beneath that was something else—curiosity.
A small, teasing smirk played at her lips. The very lips Hugo had been dreaming about since the dawn of time.
She tilted her head, her voice smooth and playful. "What if I say yes?"
Hugo's heart nearly exploded.
His entire brain hit a blue screen error. His soul did backflips.
He had two choices here: fumble the bag and never recover, or go all in.
And Hugo? Hugo was going all in.
He leaned in slightly, his voice dropping to a low, sensual tone. "Then I'd have no choice..."
Celine raised an eyebrow. "Oh?"
Hugo smirked, his eyes darkening. "...but to ruin you."
Celine blinked.
Then, she smiled.
A slow, mischievous smile that sent a thousand volts of electricity through Hugo's spine.
Before he could even process what was happening, Celine grabbed his collar, yanked him forward, and kissed him.
Hugo. Was. Dead.
Gone. Ascended. Floating through the astral plane.
His body was still sitting there, sure, but his soul? His soul was moonwalking in the heavens, shaking hands with angels, and writing a thank-you letter to fate.
Hugo's brain was not prepared for this level of success. He had won. He had made it in life. This was peak existence.
He could now die happy.
But, oh no. This was just the beginning.
As the shock faded, Hugo fully leaned into the kiss, his hands sliding around Celine's waist.
And then?
He pulled her onto his lap.
Celine let out a soft gasp, her eyes widening slightly as she suddenly found herself sitting on him.
For one brief, terrifying moment, Hugo thought he had overplayed his hand.@@@@
He waited. Prayed. Begged the universe for mercy. Then, Celine smiled and kissed him again.
Hugo's brain short-circuited for the second time in under a minute.
This was it. The greatest moment of his life.
[Death Mission: Seduce a 10-rated beauty within the next three months... or die.]
And so far?
He had found exactly zero. Every girl he met, no matter how gorgeous, always ended up being a 9.
And now, even Celine?!
Unbelievable.
His fingers twitched slightly, his mind racing. What now?
Should he be disappointed? Should he be upset? Should he just give up on life?
But before he could spiral into a full existential crisis, a voice snapped him out of it.
"Are you just gonna keep staring, or what?"
Hugo blinked. Celine was still watching him, her lips curved into a teasing smirk.
Right. Right. He was supposed to be in the moment. This was not the time to be worrying about system nonsense.
He cleared his throat, shoving all distracting thoughts to the back of his mind.
Focus. He had one mission right now. Enjoy the moment.
He flashed a smooth, confident grin. "Guess I got lost in your eyes for a second."
Celine chuckled. "You're ridiculous."
"But you love it," Hugo shot back smoothly, standing up and offering her his hand. "Let's go."
Celine smiled, placing her soft hand in his.
But the second Hugo touched her—
DING!
A new system notification suddenly screamed into his brain.
[System Notification: Target Found!]
[10-rated beauty detected!]
Hugo stopped breathing.
...
What. The. Hell. Is. Going. On?!
