Hugo rolled his shoulders and stretched his fingers dramatically. "Alright, Celine. One last game. Winner takes all."
He wasn't even the least bit scared of this game.
If Celine could pose a challenge to him, she would have already done so in the last 3 matches.
Instead, he was already calculating evilly the crazy dress he would make her wear to their next date.
Celine, sitting cross-legged on the arcade stool, smirked. "You think you can defeat me easily, don't you? I guess it's time for me to get a little serious."
Hugo almost sneered at her shocking shamelessness. She was acting way too smug for someone who just got obliterated in three previous games!
But fine, if she wanted to pretend she still had a shot at victory, he'd play along.
They both turned toward the screen, where "DEATH ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE EXTREME EDITION" flashed in bold red letters.
It was a two-player co-op shooter, where they had to fight off waves of zombies together, but the game also had a secret competitive ranking system that judged players based on headshots, accuracy, and kill count.
In the end, the one with the higher score was the true winner!
Celine picked up the bright pink plastic gun. "You sure you're ready for this? I have sniper instincts."
Hugo grabbed his neon blue gun, spinning it in his hand like a cowboy. He flashed her his most smug grin.
"Sniper instincts, huh? That's cute. I have god-tier reflexes and the hand-eye coordination of a war veteran."
Celine narrowed her eyes playfully. "Talk all you want, but let's see if your boomer reflexes can keep up."
Hugo nearly choked. "BOOMER?! I'm twenty-one!"
Celine shrugged. "That's, like, ancient in gaming years."
Hugo almost smacked her with the pistol there and then.
If he didn't absolutely crush her soul in this game, he might never recover from the sheer disrespect she just threw at him!
The game began.
ROUND ONE – BEGIN!
The screen darkened, showing a creepy, abandoned town.
The first few zombies shambled out from the shadows, moaning as they dragged their rotten limbs toward Hugo and Celine.
Celine aimed. BAM! A perfect headshot sent a zombie flying backward.
Hugo raised an eyebrow. "Oh? That was clean."
Celine blew on her gun like it was a real weapon. "Told you. Sniper instincts."

Five zombies dropped instantly, all headshots!
Celine gawked. "What the hell was that?!"
Hugo yawned dramatically. "Oh, sorry, was I supposed to let you catch up?"
Celine glared. "Alright, you wanna play like that? Let's go."
ROUND TWO – ZOMBIE SPEED INCREASED!
The boss screamed and exploded, the screen flashing with a massive "PLAYER 1 VICTORY!!!"
Hugo threw his arms up. "LET'S GO!!!"
Celine, staring at the final score, slumped back in her seat.
Hugo – 75,000 points.
Celine – 74,980 points.
A twenty-point difference.
Celine covered her face with her hands. "ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!"
Hugo burst into laughter. "I BARELY won! That was so close!"
Celine smacked his arm. "This is rigged. I demand a rematch!"
Hugo wiped a fake tear from his eye. "Ahhh, it's okay, Celine. You fought well. For a noob."
Celine pointed her gun at him. "Say that again and I will pistol-whip you."
Hugo smiled at her. She wasn't completely right about the rigging, but she wasn't too wrong either.
Afterall, Master Points was literally cheating the system.
If she did that, he might actually deserve it, but still, a win was a win.
Then, before Celine could complain more, Hugo smirked. "Alright, a bet's a bet."
Celine groaned. "Oh god. What now?"
Hugo leaned in, grinning like a devil. "Next time we hang out, I get to choose your outfit."
Celine blinked. "...What kind of outfit?"
Hugo wiggled his eyebrows. "Something bold."
If course, he wouldn't tell her now. Where was the fun in that?
Celine stared at him for a moment. Then, to his shock, she suddenly smirked. "Fine. But if I win next time, you're wearing whatever I pick."
Hugo gulped slightly. He couldn't afford to lose to thus witch. It could backfire horribly. But he had already set his trap, and there was no backing out now.
"Deal," he said confidently, shaking her hand.
Celine glanced at him sideways. "You do realize you just started a war, right?"
Hugo laughed. "Oh, I know. And I'm gonna win that too."
Celine cracked her knuckles. "We'll see about that."
