Chapter 93 No keys, No D's!
Chapter 93 No keys, No D's!
Vrooom!
Hugo revved his bike as the dimly lit streets zoomed past. Jessica's arms were wrapped snugly around his waist, her perfume faintly reaching his nose.
Everything felt perfect. But Hugo's mind was a battlefield.
'Should I do it?' he wondered, biting his lip. 'Just one little speed boost—nothing crazy. She'll squeal and hold me tighter, maybe even bury her face in my back. It worked like a charm with Lily. Girls love that thrill stuff, right?'
But then, like a bucket of cold water, the memory of that same date flooded back.
The memory of that near-death experience with Lily came crashing in. The car. The screeching of the tires. The way Lily screamed so loud it gave him a headache for a week.
He shuddered. "Nope, not today," he muttered under his breath. I've had enough trauma for one lifetime.
Although it ended well in the end, no one likes being so close to death. Except for those danger junkies...
It wasn't worth the risk.

Jessica leaned closer. "Did you say something?"
"Uh, nothing!" he said quickly, his voice higher than normal. Keep it cool, Hugo. You're killing it.
As they approached the campus, relief washed over him. 'Finally, I can take her to a private place and get down and dirty with her... Just gotta park the bike and—
His stomach dropped. "Oh no."
He slammed the brakes and pulled the bike over to the side of the road.
Jessica leaned forward, confused. "What's wrong? Don't tell me you've got a flat tire or something."
Hugo groaned, slapping his forehead. "Worse. I forgot my keys."
Jessica blinked. "You forgot your keys?"
"Yeah." Hugo groaned dramatically, throwing his hands in the air. "And my roommate, Collins, decided tonight was the perfect time to go on a 'date' with his mother or whatever. So now I'm locked out."
Jessica laughed, shaking her head. "Nice planning, Spiderman."
Hugo grinned slyly, tilting his head to look at her. "Speaking of Spiderman, where's your hideout? Maybe I can drop you off instead."
Jessica looked up, her face sheepish. "So... I might've... lost my keys."
Hugo froze. "You're joking, right?"
Jessica bit her lip, looking everywhere but at him. "Nope. They're gone."
Hugo stared at her, his eye twitching. "You... lost your keys?"
"Yep," she said, shrugging. It was like she didn't even care!
"After I just raced through town to bring you home? After I risked my life—and yours—dodging imaginary raccoons?" His voice rose with every word.
Jessica burst out laughing at his expression, doubling over. "Oh my god, your face! You look like you're about to cry!"
Of course he was going to cry. No keys meant no D's!
Hugo threw his hands in the air. "Of course, I'm about to cry! Do you know how close I was to crashing us into a lamppost? And for what? So we can both stand out here, homeless?"
Jessica wiped a tear from her eye, still laughing. "Relax, Spiderman. We'll figure something out."
Hugo slumped against his bike, muttering under his breath. "This is why I stick to video games. NPCs don't lose their damn keys."
Jessica patted his shoulder sympathetically, still giggling. "Come on, genius. Let's see if my roommate's home."
Hugo sighed, dragging his feet behind her. 'I swear, the universe is laughing at me.'
