Chapter 2078 - 2279: Do You Accept This?

Chapter 2078 - 2279: Do You Accept This?

Baldy spoke with a face full of anger, pounding the table loudly. Diners at other tables turned their gaze to see what was happening. The owner did the same, his face clouding over at the commotion. He was worried about such anger turning into a fight that could ruin his shop; it had just been fixed recently. If it were damaged again, he'd be heartbroken.

Yet, seeing Baldy and his group, he dare not say a word, only standing nearby, watching with a troubled expression, hoping a fight wouldn't break out.

Baldy sat there, his eyes glaring at the news. They truly were forgetting past pains; having just escaped from those guys, now they were thinking of heading back to fight. It was reckless beyond belief; how could he not be angry?

But at the same time, he understood very clearly that this anger shown by the brothers was all because of him. Seeing him injured was why they were clamoring to go back for revenge.

Yelled at by Baldy, his brothers silently lowered their heads and dared not speak. After today's encounter with Yellow Hair and others, they finally understood the strength and stature of the Axe Gang.

Previously, their concept of the Axe Gang was of a recently rising group with great momentum. But after a real confrontation, they realized the gang's immense power made them look insignificant and almost cost them dearly.

Scolded by Baldy, with heads lowered, they calmed down, realizing their words and actions were impulsive and lacked consideration for the big picture.

Seeing his underlings bowing their heads remorsefully, Baldy felt a pang of pity, picked up a bottle, and tapped it on the table, saying, "Come! Let's drink!"

Hearing Baldy's words, the group grabbed their bottles and started drinking. Alcohol is a marvelous thing; it excites and amplifies emotions, both happy and sad, letting them pour out.

Now, these were tough guys, having gone through such experience earlier, so when Baldy suggested drinking, they raised their bottles and chugged them down, many finishing a bottle in one go and then opening another.

Quickly, the group polished off a whole case. To them, this amount was nothing, for in their circles, if you couldn't fight or drink, how could you mix in?

After a couple of bottles, though it was like drinking water for them, each face was flushed, undoubtedly holding an unspoken anger longing to be expressed.

At that moment, one of the juniors couldn't hold back any longer. Finishing his drink, he looked at Baldy, patted his chest, and said, "Boss, the best decision I made in this life was following you. Before following you, I was nobody, barely feeding myself, disliked by all. But now, at least I can support a family. Today, your actions filled us with admiration, but also shame, thinking we have done little for the boss, it feels guilty."

Many hearing this felt the sentiment hit home, expressing what they wanted to say, and silently nodded along.

Then, the man patted his chest again, paused, and said, "We know we are no match for the Axe Gang, but after what they've done to the boss today, we can't stand it. Just a word, and we'll give them trouble. We know our strength pales against theirs, but brothers can't swallow this insult."

"Just a word from the boss, and we'd run towards any trouble with Axe Gang, killing one breaks even, killing two profits, none of us would flinch," he said, voice hoarse, "But if the boss doesn't want us to go, then we heed him, yet we'll never forget this grudge, never forget the boss's kindness. One day, we'll seek vengeance for him."

By now, his voice nearly breaking, having been moved by Baldy's earlier actions, he then poured out his true feelings, bolstered by alcohol.

The others, hearing this, were similarly moved, displaying expressions of excitement.

"Right! Just a word from the boss, even risking our lives, we'll show Axe Gang a lesson. Despite our lack of strength, killing one breaks even, two profits!" a junior excitedly said.

"Boss!" another junior stood up, "Just one word now, and our lives are yours!"

"......"

At this moment, each stood up excitedly, for Baldy earlier risked his life for them, and if they did not show their gratitude now, it would weigh heavily on their conscience. Watching the boss take such injuries for them, if they did not act, they couldn't face their own hearts.

Although they hadn't drunk much, they all stood, faces flushed, looking at Baldy, their resolve clear. Baldy and Hao Jian were the only ones still seated.

Hao Jian watched this scene unfold, as he expected, unsurprised. After all, as the saying goes, "with virtue comes aid, losing virtue leaves none." Baldy's righteous sacrifice for his brothers naturally garnered loyalty.

If it were earlier, Baldy would likely have exploded upon hearing this, not wanting his brothers to die in vain for him and disdaining solving issues with brute force.

But after cooling his anger, he listened pensively to the junior's words, lost in thought.

"Sit down," Baldy said.

They dared not oppose Baldy's command, obediently sitting back down. Watching them finally calmly seated, the owner's face expressed satisfaction.

Baldy remained silent, poured himself a drink, downed one glass, then another, drinking four or five before stopping. Everyone watched him, waiting for his words.

"I appreciate your sentiments, but I can't accept them." Baldy said grimly, "Finish this meal, then go home and pack up. If this place doesn't welcome us, then other places will. We'll find a new path elsewhere!"

The others understood Baldy's implication, whatever the boss said, they'd follow, hence no complaints. Silently, they began to eat.

Since Yun City couldn't sustain them, they'd find a new way elsewhere. In Jianghu, grudges shouldn't harm family, reassuring them that Axe Gang wouldn't threaten their families.

Their enmity with the Axe Gang wasn't deep enough for such actions. If it garbled their families, they'd face societal reproach and retaliation.

Decision made swiftly, everyone ate silently, planning to pack, with or without family. Long silence ensued.

At this point, Hao Jian, who had been silently watching, finally smiled, ready to break the long quiet.

"Are you willing?" Hao Jian abruptly asked.

His words shattered the silence, everyone looking at him in disbelief. Even Baldy, puzzled, sought explanation from Hao Jian.

As they watched, Hao Jian grinned mysteriously, hiding something in his smile.

"Are you willing?" Hao Jian repeated.

He sought no answers from them; the question was for him to resolve.

Stunned by his words, they waited for explanation from Hao Jian.

"Haha," Hao Jian chuckled, "Yun City is your foundation, your home. If now, due to this, you leave for elsewhere, will you accept it?"

"I believe the answer is no!" Hao Jian said, "So why leave Yun City for somewhere else?"
