Chapter 84 ALCHEMY (5)
Chapter 84 ALCHEMY (5)
Instructor Mark: "Number 9, you exceeded my expectations. I purposely chose a rare poison to make your task much harder than the others, but still you delivered. Excellent work."
No. 9: "Thank you, instructor."
Checking the task for every single seed took a lot of time and all the instructor's attention.
He had completely forgotten about Alan, as evaluating such tasks takes careful consideration and a long time.
Almost 3 hours had passed. At that moment, finally, Alan's turn came up.
But when instructor Mark took a look at Alan, he found him operating his terminal as if he was searching for something.
Instructor Mark: "Number 33 What are you doing? Accessing the terminal for information can be counted as cheating.
Alan: "Mmm, no, I had already finished the task and written my report. I was searching the database for a specific term, which is the name of the poison, but the response I got is that I don't have clearance to check the information."
The expression on instructor Mark's face was colorful at the moment as he wanted to laugh hard at this genius who thinks that he solves the problem. Not knowing yet it is a mountain, and he had only begun climbing.
Instructor Mark: "Okay then, I will check your work, and you will take me through your process, providing evidence and reasoning behind your answers."
Alan: "With pleasure, instructor, I started the process as you had seen by conducting the basic tests to verify the condition of the poisoned specimen.
First I have conducted a complete blood panel, then a complete cell count. Following this line of thought, I went through the guidelines we usually use when trying to diagnose a cause of illness.
The first anomaly appeared even before the results of the tests came back; during the physical examination, there were almost no clear symptoms on the specimen, as if it was completely healthy.
After observing this anomaly, I waited for the test results, which also came back baffling, as everything was almost perfect and normal, but there was a slight deviation in the production of plasma cells, which showed inhibition in factor XI.
The only interpretation that we can get from the inhibition of the factor XI is that the specimen is simply low in energy and vitality."
Instructor Mark: "excellent work, so you noticed the slightly diminishing vitality, And you took notice of the anomaly which is the lack of symptoms, That's already impressive"
Alan was surprised by how happy the instructor was, as he did not even begin explaining the rest of the procedure that he had gone through.
Alan: "Shall I continue?"
Instructor Mark: "Aha, go ahead."
Alan: "After I reached a deadlock, I decided to change my approach. Going through the many books I have read, I decided to first identify the foreign agent. What kind of poison was this?.
Identifying the origin of the poison is a crucial step to reach the right antidote.
So I performed three more tests.
The first is to look for any viral agent foreign to the body; after taking the sample and analyzing it, sadly the result was negative, so I had to rule out any viral cause.
Then I thought about parasites, although they can be much trickier than any viral agent.
I chose to make a blood culture to find out if there was any parasite. The result again came back negative."
Instructor Mark: "You truly have the bearing of a full-fledged scientist. The methodology that you have used is textbook; there is no room for criticism."
The only one who did not look impressed was instructor Mark, who suddenly appeared above the ratatang cage.
A vast aura exploded from the bald, muscular man; everyone inside the laboratory felt a crushing pressure as if they were pressed down under a mountain.
Instructor Mark raised his hand as his aura with an earth-like color enveloped the ratatang as if he was trying to confirm something.
Instructor Mark: "The vitality loss has stopped after administering antidote number 33 made.
You truly cracked it."
Instructor Mark gave Alan a frantic look; everyone inside was barely able to stand due to the pressure, let alone speak.
Alan: "Instructor... please calm down."
Taking a look around the room as he saw his students in a sorry state, he immediately retracted his aura.
Instructor Mark: "You say that you wrote everything in detail in your report, right?"
Alan: "Phew ..., yes, everything is in here."
Instructor Mark took the report immediately and the culture together with the ratatang cage.
Instructor Mark: "Everyone is dismissed for today."
As soon as this sentence was said, the bald man disappeared from the room.

.
Almost a minute after the instructor left, silence and awkwardness dominated the atmosphere inside the lab.
Until one of the seeds broke the silence.
No. 80: "Junior, what the f*** did you do? I have never seen instructor Mark get emotional to the point that his aura has leaked."
Alan: "You all have seen What happened. I didn't do anything; I simply reported my findings on the task he gave me. That's all."
Everyone gave Alan a doubtful look as they could not imagine what he did to anger the most pacifist instructor they had.
No80: "f*** that scared the s*** out of me, I always thought that instructor Mark will be weaker than the others as he's a researcher"
No. 9: "Your head must be a flower field if you ever think that anyone in this organization has any association with the word 'weak."
......
Meanwhile, someone was moving at a terrifying speed through the corridors of the black side, heading straight towards the lieutenant's office.
Instructor Mark: "LIEUTENANT!!!!!!"
