The Bee Dungeon

Chapter 370 - Bee-vine Restoration

Chapter 370 - Bee-vine Restoration

Belissar’s council dispersed to handle their own business after Belissar finished making the decisions. Tarwantrad all but raced home to the Compact, saying she needed to speak with her people, while the hive of hives wanted to start applying the Pollen Armor perk to the bee army right away. Belissar was left alone with Niobee as a flood of messages came in from the God of Bees...

New mission received: Raise or evolve a Bee-type monster of rarity Rare or greater that does not have any Brood skills.

New mission received: Defeat a purification using Bee-type monsters that do not have any Brood skills.

New mission received: Help one champion of Bees strengthen their blessing.

New mission received: Raise or evolve another Flower-type monster or feature to have a Bee-type.

New mission received: Raise or evolve another Tree-type monster or feature to have a Bee-type.

Apparently, it was the God of Bees’ turn to issue a bunch of missions. Belissar was a bit surprised at first, but quickly accepted it. After all, he had been doing a lot of missions for other gods lately, it was only natural he give some focus to his primary patron.

His mission list was growing quite long, though, so to help organize the tasks in his mind, he brought up the Tower’s list of ongoing missions...

Current Missions:

God of Bees: Revive the Order of Hive and Stinger, Raise or evolve a Bee-type monster of rarity Rare or greater that does not have any Brood skills, Defeat a purification using Bee-type monsters that do not have any Brood skills, Help one champion of Bees strengthen their blessing, Raise or evolve a Flower-type monster or feature to have a Bee-type, Raise or evolve a Tree-type monster or feature to have a Bee-type.God of Fire: Help one champion of Fire strengthen their blessing,

God of Death: Shift a room’s nature to the Death attribute, Raise or evolve a monster of both Bee and Death types and rare or better rarity, Offer mead made with Death attribute honey to the God of Death at the Memorial, Share a monster a monster of both Bee and Death types and rare or better rarity with Hesfalle, dungeon master of Death,

God of Light: Defeat a purification using a Light-type room, Defeat a Dragon-type monster of rarity Rare or greater using Bee-type monsters, Test one hundred challengers with purifying light, Share a Light-type flowering plant with a dungeon of Flowers

...there were a lot, but helpfully the Tower had arranged them according to the god that issued them. Belissar turned to Niobee.

“Hi Niobee, I’m going to review the missions from the gods. Could you let the hive of hives know if there’s anything relevant to them?”

“Ok!”

And so, Belissar started thinking out loud about each of the missions. Reviving the Order of Hive and Stinger would depend on the pixies...or would it? Belissar would have to ask the pixies about the order more and then see if any of the karnuq were interested in joining, the beekeepers especially. Perhaps that might work for helping a champion of bees strengthen their blessing too?

As for the new missions...it seemed the God of Bees wanted to focus on bees that didn’t form hives. The only bees he currently had without either the Brood Mother or Brood Offspring skill were the carpenter and lumber bees, so those would be the focus. Maybe the Third of the Third could help with her new evolution, she was the queen who had worked the most with the carpenter bees so far. Clearing a purification with lumber bees might be possible, but would have to wait until the siege was lifted.

As for raising or evolving Bee-type flowers and trees...well, the gardeners were already hard at work cross-pollinating all the various flowers in his Tower. He had the beebalm and soaring beeblossom, so perhaps one of those two would work if cross-pollinated with other flowers. Or maybe the nightshade summoners could be evolved to summon more than wasps. Niobee was dancing rapidly to the hive of hives after Belissar proposed all those ideas, so apparently she thought some of them had potential...

The God of Fire and God of Death’s missions were still ongoing and the bees were already hard at work on them, so Belissar then focused on the God of Light’s missions. Defeating a strong Dragon-type monster would probably come if Starami launched another assault...or if the digging monster bee assassin managed to take down Starami’s true dragon. She was still hard at work stinging the dragon whenever she gathered enough mana. Likewise, completing a purification with a Light-type room and testing challengers with light would both complete when Belissar decided to trigger the Hall of Purification, so they were just waiting until it was time to show the Tower Guard what that room could do.

As for sharing a Light-type flowering plant with a dungeon of flowers...well, Tarwantrad was extremely excited about the Star Core flowers, so hopefully the gardeners could plant one in her dungeon.

With all the missions reviewed, Belissar turned to Niobee.

“Could you ask the Third of the Third if there’s anything the carpenter bees want? Or maybe you can ask the carpenter bees directly? Let’s make sure they have everything they need to evolve one day.”

Niobee, as always, happily danced about.

“Ok!”

It didn’t take long before Niobee received an answer.

“Carpenter bees want bigger trees!”

Belissar smiled. That went along perfectly with his plans for the Arboreal Hives perk and so helped him decide what he should do with the rest of his day.

“Got it, I’ll go talk with the green elves then and ask about those giant trees of theirs.”

Meanwhile, in Viryaskog, Ornetrad the green elf signatory had been coordinating food deliveries for the Compact’s warriors when green elves came rushing out of Tarwantrad’s dungeons. Rangers who had been deployed to battle, couriers sent to deliver food and messages...every green elf who had been in Tower Keeper Belissar’s dungeon came rushing back. Ornetrad had been surrounded and subjected to a barrage of confused but extremely excited accounts of some great event that had happened there and big wave of divine power, though what exactly had happened none of them could say. So, he was not surprised when he saw Tarwantrad follow after them, all but skipping as she ran home.

Since Tarwantrad was the expert on dungeon matters, Ornetrad led her to his home, a large house built around the trunk of the biggest tree in the forest, along with Tarwantrad’s grandfather Herading. He led them to a private office with just a desk and couple of chairs, though they all remained standing in front of his desk to talk.

“Ok, Tarwantrad, what’s going on? What has everyone riled up like this? Something involving the gods it sounds like?”

Tarwantrad, bounced on her feet with a big grin on her face.

“Belissar raised a demigod of the God of Bees, the God of Flowers...and the God of Forests and Trees!”

Ornetrad blinked.

“Huh?”

Tarwantrad went on to elaborate the recent events. Both Ornetrad and Herading’s eyes widened and halfway through both men lost strength in their legs and had to sit down. Ornetrad leaned back into his chair.

“So...a bee monster has become a dryad for one of Erynmor’s Hearts of the Forest. That is...hard to imagine.”

Tarwantrad held her head up with a smug smile.

“If you don’t believe me, ask Nenavann. He was there too.”

Herading shook his head.

“We don’t doubt you, Tarwantrad, it’s just a lot to take in. You know what this means, right? We haven’t heard from the God of Trees and Forests since Erynmor and the Great Forest fell, while Nenavann refused to plant the Hearts of the Forest here no matter how much we begged him. Now...you’re saying that one bloomed? And the God of Trees and Forests responded?”

Tarwantrad nodded immediately.

“Of course! That’s why I came to tell you right away, Grandpa!”

Ornetrad took a deep breath.

“Not only that...the Heart of the Forest now has a demigod dryad that is channeling the power of Trees and Forests...you said it’s been affecting the plants in the dungeon?”

Tarwantrad giggled.

“Not just that...apparently the entire forest outside of Belissar’s Tower bloomed too!”

Ornetrad’s eyes went as wide as they could go.

“Then...it might be possible. We might...be able to replant the great trees. To start regrowing the Great Forest...”

Tarwantrad’s grin grew even more.

“And...Belissar has just gotten interested in the great trees. It sounds like it might be good idea to plant some in his Tower and see how they react to the Heart?”

Herading laughed and then shook his head.

“Tarwantrad, you don’t need to convince us. With a blooming Heart of the Forest AND a dryad? We’d beg the Tower Keeper to let us plant the great trees there!”

Ornetrad, on the other hand, had gone completely silent. His eyes grew moist. The Great Forest...and the god that loved it most...might one day return to the world. A day far closer than he could have ever imagined...
