Chapter 60 Driving Unity
Chapter 60 Driving Unity
With Lance's tribe quickly becoming a melting pot of several goblin tribes, not everyone could get along with one another as easily, just as expected. More surprising even, was the fact that it took so long for the issue to fully arise.
"This won't work, not like this." Lia complained with a sigh. She had complained and felt almost useless before when the tribe was still small, but with the addition of all the new tribes incorporated into theirs, she now had more work and responsibilities than ever before.
"You look stressed out." Lance said, smiling faintly as he stroked a stray stand of hair out of her face, making her expression relax a bit.
"I haven't had so much to do in such a long time, it's left me. But with you around, I have such a good foot steps to follow." Lia said, putting her hands around Lance's neck and panting a soft kiss that lasted a couple minutes.
Following a lot of influence, Lance had imparted a lot of human culture onto them when it came to showing of love, outside plain raw sex. Not strange also, was them having tailored to these other ways also.
"Don't worry too much, it's a natural process. As long as there were no initial fights or major conflicts, it'll smoothen out naturally." Lance said, patting her hair gently. "We should organize some kind festival to celebrate the new tribe, it's long overdue by now."
"That's a good idea, I'll organize that."
...
Just as planned, the goblin camp buzzed with anticipation as preparations for the "unification ceremony" as it was tagged begun. Now, the time had come to unite everyone, creating a single, cohesive community under Lance's leadership through the celebratory atmosphere.
As evening approached, Lance stood at the center of the camp, watching as goblins worked to decorate the main clearing. Brightly dyed fabrics hung from the trees, while Lia directed a team to construct a wooden totem adorned with several symbols.
"Is this over the top?" Lance asked, glancing at Lia, who stood beside him now.
Lance moved through the crowd, greeting and being greeted by goblins from all the tribes who continued sharing stories and laughter. The once tense atmosphere now seemed at ease, their faces lit with smiles as they mingled with their newest tribe members.
Rynne approached Lance with a smirk, holding a cup of berry wine. "Not bad for at all, Lia really outdid herself here. Do you think the whole thing about the spirit thing was real?" she asked, handing Lance the drink.
"Well, we'll know once we ask her," Lance replied with a light laugh, taking a sip. "hmm?" Something didn't seem right, the drink tasted off. 'Alcohol?' he thought to himself, looking at Rynne who appeared to be totally fine, then turned towards the goblins everywhere. No one seemed to be acting out of character, at least, not in the setting of a celebration.
"What?" Rynne asked, noticing Lance's behaviour.
"Nothing, here, I've had enough of that for one day."
Mira joined them, her eyes soft with contentment. "It's beautiful, isn't it? Seeing everyone together like this."
"It is," Lance said.
...
As the night wore on, the goblins gathered once more around the fire for a final moment of reflection.
Lance stepped forward, his golden eyes glowing softly in the firelight. "Tonight, we've taken another step toward something greater. But this is only the beginning. Together, we'll build a sanctuary where we won't have to live in fear or isolation ever again."
The goblins erupted into cheers, their voices echoing into the night.
'Yeah, the alcohol is definitely active.'
