Chapter 469 Of Beginnings That Were Deadly
Chapter 469 Of Beginnings That Were Deadly
[rukiya]
when they had gone through the portal back to the sacred island, rukiya and mumbai expected to find themselves standing before a burning island. this wasn't part of the plan and the more they looked sound, the thicker the stench of smoke and burnt flesh hit their noses.
it was the worst of stenches they had taken in for a while now and frankly it was upsetting to extreme levels. this was insanity at best and it wasn't to be lauded in any way. the forest was thick with smoke, let alone the unbreathable air.
there were silent whimpers in the distance in the midst of the burning and rukiya felt her heart sink into her stomach at the possibilities that were hitting her mind. she knew that hawi and malika were powerful, but then the russels had equally been as powerful.
they could ruin each other and there was also a chance that hawi and malika had burnt the island and sent the protectors home, or the russels had burnt up everything and played the game of catch with hawi.
none of them could tell what the fuck happened and it was unsettling to say the least.
"what in the world happened here?" rukiya asked, her voice low yet it came off as a frustrated whine, like there was supposed to be an answer to the madness they were witnessing at the moment.
then again, no amount of preparation would ever make it any better. no one would ever be ready for this kind of destruction and the sooner they guessed that, the sooner they could figure out what this was.
it hurt, sure but it was what really worked for the both of them. frankly, no one had told them that a sacred island could catch fire. she had assumed that it would be just like any other sacred space that was always immortal.
well turns out this one wasn't because the fires were huge and some weren't even encouraging anyone to step into the massive mess that was staring at them. it was almost unheard of, but then they weren't here for souvenirs, were they?
"the protectors must have done this. they aren't here, when they should be. come we need to find my sister and your mate," mbali said as she conjured a mask for the both of them to use to get through the smoke and the fires.
they were in their fragile states, but thankfully their magic was intact and allowed them to get through fires to the centre of the island. it was a long and upsetting walk, and the fact that they couldn't even portal around here was making them more irritable.
it would have been easier if they chose to walk, but they didn't want to trigger anything that they didn't know of.
from the fires, it was almost obvious that there was a lot of mutilation going on, and getting right in the middle of that without so much as a plan would make things harder for the both of them.
"this place is giving me the creeps," rukiya said and mbali just chuckled sadly. it wasn't what they had both expected truly, but then in a lifeline where blood rains were possible, they should have been ready to expect anything outside of their normal.
hell, there was no knowing what the hell the sifir had been guided to do. it was frustrating and rukiya was certain that she was about to lose her brain cells because of the rissoles.
oh, how she hated them. it wasn't going to be easy for her, but then she had to take a step back and think. it was the only rational thing left for the both of them anyway.
"i'll try and track the portal," mbali said and rukiya watched in silence. she had never seen anyone track a portal but she could tell that mbali knew what she was doing, so there was no reason for her to try and make things harder for her, right?
if anything, they were on the same side and wanted to see the end result of what they were aiming for either way. this was their chance to make things right and they could either win it or ruin everything in the process.
rukiya watched intently as mbali did her thing by tracking the portal. none of them was getting anything, so they stood there and sniffed around for any signs of wherever had been dragged to the cezaevi.
it would be crazy regardless of how things weren't on. none of this would ever make sense to them and they had to think, and fast, because otherwise they would be playing a losing game.
"there are tiny footsteps. do you think they sent kurt in there?" rukiya asked and mbali came to a stop. now that she thought about everything, she could remember the scent that was way too familiar.
granted, it was one that she could smell anywhere, but this time, it wasn't because of the portal that had been created, but because of the sifir.
there was a thing that they needed to think about right now, and they couldn't help but wonder where the fuck hawi and malika were at.
"that doesn't matter to me. what i need to know is where the fuck our friends are. this temple is huge and with the sifir not having any magic we need to figure out if we are to make things right or if we have to find a way to get to seb and alex.
"these two are dangerous and need to be stopped before they get any ideas in their heads," mbali said as she looked at rukiya who was still reeling from what she had seen.

the war hadn't even begun yet and they were already frustrated beyond measure, it would truly be a pity if they lost this time too.
perhaps they needed to walk around the island and figure out what the fuck had happened but wasn't it already obvious from the stench of those who had been slain there? how were they supposed to make things right like this?
"where the fuck are we even to start form when the clouds are gathering once again and it looks like it will rain?" rukiya sighed as she looked up at the skies. this was the most annoying fad and she wouldn't deny it at any point in time.
