Chapter 578 The Art of Familial Bonds
Chapter 578 The Art of Familial Bonds
[MBALI]
"Won't you be coming with me, sister?" Trey asked hopefully even though he could tell what her answer would be. His sister's heart had been broken again and he felt terrible for her but unfortunately, this wasn't a war that they could win.
"Of course... I'll just join you later," Amina said with a smile that didn't reach her eyes.
And that was also how Trey knew of the goodbyes that lingered in his sister's words. He wouldn't see her again for quite some time and he had no control over that anymore. He couldn't plead to her and make her stay for him.
He couldn't be that selfish to her too because he had seen the way the light had left her eyes when she walked out of Mbali's room. Fate was being cruel and Trey could only hope that in another life his sister would come back with him.
Perhaps it was that hope that made Trey want to linger longer with his sister, but he couldn't. He had to give her the space she ended so she could figure out shit on her own without him hovering around her all the time.
This was a sacrifice that he had to make too, and hoped that his sister found happiness or relief in the next few years... Poor thing. Perhaps in another life, she would truly be happy with a mate that wanted her, right?
"Oh, I see. Let's share a meal then before we leave," Trey said, hoping that the stalling would make Mbali come down and talk to his sister. She was the only person in the entire realm and all of existence who could say something, anything, to stop Amina.
"Mbali! I can hear your stomach growling! Hurry, we need to leave too for Hernia!" Hawi called out as she looked in the direction of Mbali's room. She hadn't questioned how Amina had been able to walk out of Mbali's room with the spell she had cast.
But then there was also the chance that the spell was not that binding for a Russel or even her mate. This was the time for so many things to come to light and slowly they were showing without shame.
"I'm not hungry!" Mbali shouted and Hawi groaned.
"I'll count to five, then I'll tell Amina your secrets," Hawi threatened and before she could even formulate another sentence, Mbali had portaled to the dining table, a reality that got Me wondering what secrets those were for Hawi to have succeeded that fast.
She was curious to know what leverage Hawi had on Mbali, however harmless it was, because clearly it related to her. Then again, Amina knew she couldn't question the white wolf without coming off as entitled and rude. Oh, how she had wishes.
"You are the meanest person I know," Mbali whined as she sat on the farthest end, putting a considerable distance between her and Amina. Hawi was quick to notice and so she pushed the food towards her, and all the dishes, so they would be closer.@@@@
"You really love him. I am so happy that you found each other," Hawi commented honestly as she looked at the trio at the table. She knew that Mbali and Amina loved each other too, and just needed to work around that truth.
However, just like Trey, she hoped that the two would find their way back to each other. It wasn't supposed to be this hard but at the same time, trust wasn't something that could be auctioned off the streets.
"I am too. He makes my life worth living," Trey responded excitedly.
He was a man in love and Hawi thanked the goddess in silence for what Hudhayfah had received. This right here was the first sign of hope that all the broken relationships would finally be mended with time, right?
"We need to leave, little brother," Amina said once they had cleared the table and cleaned up the space. It was a hard thing for her to do, but she had to. This was goodbye for her and her mate and she wanted to stay, but she couldn't.
"Thank you for the meal, Your Majesty," Trey said with a bow while Amina created the portal.
"Hawi... Just call me Hawi. It's what my family calls me anyway," Hawi responded and Trey felt the breaths leave his lungs. He had never thought in a thousand and one years that there was a day a Sicario would consider him family, especially the craziest of them.
"Family? But I—" Trey began, and Hawi interrupted him with ease.
"Hudhayfah is family. And you two are mates... clearly you are in love with him, and that makes you family. Though I hope I don't have to remind you of what I will do to you if you break his kind heart, yeah?" Hawi added and Trey just chuckled.
Of course, he knew she would do worse to him and things that the goddess half hadn't even thought possible. He knew that by heart and he also knew that he wouldn't let himself hurt the kind healer.
"I would choose death over hurting my angel," Trey reassured.
Hawi knew it was the truth.
"Until we meet again then, Trey," Hawi said as she pulled him into a hug.
"You too, Amina," Hawi added and Amina just nodded as her brother went through the portal. However, before she could go, she looked at Mbali for a long minute, like she was mastering her features.
"Be happy, mi reina," Amina said as she went through, leaving behind Hawi and Mbali.
