Chapter 423 The Loudest Silent Pain

Chapter 423 The Loudest Silent Pain

[SICARIO]

Setup.

Oh, how Elodie hated that word. It reminded her of the endless items people had tried to attack her home with no basis and they always ended up being left traumatized because shit just couldn't be controlled anymore. It hurt in so many ways.

"Are you sure?" Eldie asked even though a part of her had been expecting this already. There was son way that Jabali Lihle would be pinned down like that. It was impossible on every scale and nothing would ever convince Elodie that this was real.

"Yes, alpha," Olga responded shakily. She was worried about their state, especially now that the alpha looked like she was about to beat someone into a pulp without having any regrets.

"The ship was set to go up in flames the moment the coordinates changed. We still have no clue how warrior Lihle made it there but we are still figuring that out," Olga added and Elodie just nodded at her.

There was nothing more that the alpha could do while she stood there and watched the chaos unfold. This was supposed to be a sacred palace and the only other people who had breached and came with trouble were currently packed in the operations building.

"I see. Clean up this place and send the wreckage to the yard behind the pack house until further notice... Good work everyone," Elodie said and they simply just stared softly, their smiles reminding her that they believed in her.

Here and now, however, Elodie Kane felt suffocated. The rage she was feeling was so intense that she was sure she would kill anyone who pooped right in front of her. She didn't care what the fuck was happening because, at the end of the day, this was home.

She had sworn to Hawi that she would protect their people, but how the fuck was she even supposed to do that when her friend who was an immortal had wound up dead in the hip? Oh, but Elodie was feeling everything at the same time.

People who relied on them now that Hawi and the crew were not here. It was not the best of times, and even Hudhayfah knew that. But what else could he do when life had given them what they couldn't even face with a sober mind?

"Mbali is not dead, healer. She is knocked out or something. She is an immortal. She is powerful. Besides, if everyone else didn't get hurt, why would the duck be the only casualty there?" Elodie asked, not understanding.

There was no way that the wolves had come out unscathed and her friend had left. It was not fair and until Elodie figured out what the fuck had happened, she wasn't going to accept it. This was not real.

"But kid—"

"Amina wouldn't let her Mbali die, Hudhayfah. The woman is crazy and they may have had their disagreements, but if there is something that even the devil knows of, is the love the psycho had for Mbali.

"If Mbali were truly dead she would have breached the borders and come to figure things out. She would have come for a body because she is a mate, and every mate has to show up for their mates. They have to.

"Until I see Amina Russel here, I won't accept that my friend is gone," Elodie insisted, even though a part of her knew that nothing would help the Russels get into Sicario. This place was a fortress on its own and even Amina wouldn't ever be able to get in.

But then at the moment, that was something that Elodie didn't care to think of. She wasn't ready to come to terms with that possibility. Perhaps it would be her undoing, but at least she would figure shit out until the end, right?

"Okay... okay, kid. What are you going to do now? Do you want me to help you out anywhere? I don't mind even being at the gates with the warriors and keeping the pack safe. Anything," Hudhayfah said as Elodie's heart shattered.

She was scared of what the truth really was so badly that she didn't even want to imagine it. The heartbreak on Malika's face when she realized her sister was no longer something that Elodie wished she wouldn't see.

"You want to help? Just help them with the debris. They won't be able to clear it out in a day unless they have someone with magic to help them," Elodie said and Hudhayfah just nodded in understanding.
