The Rejected Alpha's Vengeance

Chapter 424 You Would Never Be Alone

Chapter 424 You Would Never Be Alone

[SICARIO]

"You want to help? Just help them with the debris. They won't be able to clear it out in days unless they have someone with magic to help them," Elodie said and Hudhayfah just nodded in understanding.

He had so much hope for the kid before him and he hoped that she would take her time and embrace the truth. It wasn't ever going to be alright for a long time, but they were at war, and in war, there was always the risk of losing someone dear.

It was just unfortunate that this time, the person they lost was Mbali, but then it was a reality that even they had seen for themselves. To get Cicero back, they had murdered a lot of people. But fuck if they had thought that someday it would be them crying.

None of them had been ready for that and they wouldn't ever be. But maybe this was the reminder that at the end of the day, they had feelings that could get hurt and they could also experience sets of grief. Damn.

"You got it, kid. But take things one at a time alright?" Hudhayfah reminded and Elodie just nodded. Perhaps it would be easier if she tried that, right? But would her rage really understand that when her shattered heart was drowning her in sorrow?

"Yeah, I'll see you sometime later," Elodie said as Hudhayfah focused on helping the warriors with the debris. All of this was the reminder that perhaps truths could be forged even though deep down Elodie knew there was only so much of that.

'I can do this,' Elodie tried to encourage herself as she looked at the operations building, the one place where there were possible answers. She knew that she had to be the alpha to get straight answers but even then she wasn't sure she was ready.

Was she ready to face Drew, a man from her past who had conveniently come to Cairo on a ship? What were the chances that the ship was not even sent through by Malika? In a time where magic and dark magic are at play, what really was the truth?

"Elodie?" Drew asked when he saw the anger that the woman was staring at him with. It was almost like all of this was his doing, but even he was confused as hell. There were so many things that could have happened because of that ship and he didn't have a clue.

Maybe that made him a terrible captain or the most loyal warriors for only ever following what his commander had wanted of him. He hadn't had the time to argue with Hawi, seeing how crazy the woman had been.

But now that he could look at Elodie and saw the angry tears in her eyes Drew wished and hoped to the goddess that he wasn't the reason for them this time. The last time he had left, he knew she would cry her eyes out and he hadn't been wrong.

Years later he figured that perhaps he could have done better by her. Funny how the universe was bent on making that wish a fucked-up reality. He had wished to come home and he was here when she was in tears. Oh, Drew. Your journey continues on empire

"What's wrong?" Drew spoke again when he noticed the Sicario warriors had their heads bowed, despite the alpha telling them to be at ease. It was almost like a tragedy had struck, but wasn't that the newest horror in Sicario anyway?

The sailors in the room could sense how tense the room was getting and they prepared themselves mentally for anything. Sure, in Sicario there was never any amount of preparation for the inbound chaos, but they could try to brace themselves, right?

"Did something happen?" Drew asked, his tone softening when he saw the tears pooling in Elodie's eyes, and fuck it broke his heart. They had been apart for years, but the emotions had long remained the same.

Even though time had passed, Drew still couldn't handle seeing the tears in Elodie's face, so instead of doing anything stupid, he just walked over to where she was, hoping to the goddess that she didn't ballast him.

She was still angry with her on the other side of their chaos, but right now, Elodie needed a shoulder to lean on, and strangely enough, Drew was ready to offer that, even if Elodie didn't ask for it.

"I'm so sorry," Drew whispered as he pulled Elodie into a tight warm hug.
